Tims is a Canadian company - headquartered with 600 people in downtown Toronto; the restaurants are owned by Canadians; and the 4,000 Tims restaurants across Canada are one of the largest employers of Canadians in the country. The TFW topic gets most of the attention, but Tims is one of Canada's biggest employers of Canadians - it's a fact.
Because they are chasing guests through parking lots with cameras in their face when they're being asked not to; they are harassing young team members who are feeling intimidated coming into work - imagine if someone was doing that to one of your kids just going in to do their shift. No company in the country would allow this behaviour on their property.
3G Capital owns 21% of the company's shares - which is less than what is collectively owned by Canada's banks and Canada's pension fund. I think the more important point is 1500 Canadians who have invested their savings into building and updating 4,000 Tims restaurants across Canada and being one of the largest employers of Canadians in the country
@survivingCanada@FoodProfessor Tim Hortons restaurants are one of the biggest employers of Canadians in the country. There are 110,000 team members in restaurants - TFWs are about 4,000 of those (and down year over year)
Because the people you're referencing are chasing guests through parking lots with cameras in their face when they're being asked not to; they are harassing young team members who are feeling intimidated coming into work; they are laughing on camera about getting into arguments on Tim Hortons property. No company in the country would allow this behaviour on their property.
I would say that's a bad experience for this 18 year old and everyone deserves at least a call back if you have applied for a job. I'm sorry that they didn't a call back - they should have. If you want to have that 18 year old email me at [email protected] and let me know where he/she lives, I will put them in touch with the closest restaurants because our owners are in the middle of a local hiring campaign and need team members.
@HonkHonkDrV@FoodProfessor Tim Hortons restaurants are one of the biggest employers of Canadians in the country. The TFW program gets all the attention - but is about 4,000 of 110,000 team members and down by half year over year.
We have 1500 Canadian franchisees that own Canada's 4,000 restaurants. We have our headquarters in downtown Toronto; we own distribution centres across Canada as well as our coffee roastery in Ontario; the large majority of everything in our restaurants is bought from Canadian suppliers ($1.6 billion a year); we give back more to Canadian communities than almost any other company in the country. Respectfully, I think we're objectively one of the most Canadian companies in the country.
@HammerTime_11@FoodProfessor We often see Sylvain commenting about Tims, so we suggested we should sit down and have a good, long conversation about all the topics
@BenRabidoux Ben, I've been in the company for 8 years and have never heard of or seen something like this. If you have any evidence, please DM me because we would want to know about that. Thanks
Our restaurant owners pay the same, competitive wages as other restaurants and retailers in their community. There is no government subsidy or benefit to hiring outside the community - which is why 96% of all positions have been hired locally. It's way easier and preferred to hire locally - and is why we're looking for 10,000 new local team members.
If you're one of our 1500 Canadian restaurant owners who have spent their life investing in their restaurants and serving the members of their community - including donating back to countless local charities - who owns the parent company's shares isn't how they view the brand. Any Canadian can buy shares in the company like many have.
@ezralevant@ezralevant Canadians own more shares in Tim Hortons than 3G Capital does - including all the major Canadian banks and the CPP pension fund. Aside from 800 Canadian families that own and operate our Canadian restaurants ๐
@ezralevant Hey Ezra! Did you know 800 Canadian families own and run every Tims you've ever visited in Canada? They build their restaurants with their own money and give $60M back to charities every year. 600 of us in our Toronto office wake up every day proud to support them. ๐โ
