Let’s be clear about what just happened in the Senate: Every single Republican just voted to allow the Supreme Court to force victims of rape and incest to give birth.
I think once people meet Iman and get to know her and watch her in the show, everyone's going to be like, "Oh, no question. She's Kamala.”
— Sana Amanat talking about Ms. Marvel in a new Entertainment Weekly article.
I’m not fond of the idea that there is a list of books somewhere that everyone must read. By all means read the classics if they enrich you, but reading what you truly enjoy and sustaining a lifelong love of words is more important.
There’s a scene in Bloodlines by Claudia Gray in which Leia wears a black dress with a fabulous long, black cape as a defiant political statement and that fully embraces her entire heritage and it’s always stuck with me.
Especially after the well-written horror elements and compassionate focus on trauma and mental health in #MoonKnight this movie is hilariously bad in comparison.
One of my least favorite comic stories is Bendis’s Disassembled, which heavily leans on the stereotype of the hysterical woman. It forced a key character into obscurity & was even criticized by Stan Lee. Anyway, #DoctorStrange is bad & utterly devoid of compassionate heroes.
Much like in the wake of Bendis’ Scarlet Witch arcs, every other Avenger with a trail of bodies and tumult is given a free pass; Wanda alone is different, every time. This was the movies’ chance to improve the source material. They fell victim to it instead.
@DanielDunston I’m livid. Wanda deserved better. Elizabeth Olsen deserved better. America could have been an object and hardly anything would have changed.
The 1973 Roe decision was decided 7-2 and written by a Nixon appointee. The 1987 Casey decision upholding Roe was written by a Reagan appointee on a Court w/ 8 justices appointed by GOP presidents.
Rejecting Roe as “egregiously wrong” 50 yrs later = a radical, political act.
“Leah is exactly the way I imagined Annabeth in the books: smart, strong and courageous, a true daughter of Athena who has zero patience for the foolishness of a certain Seaweed Brain.”
