Tutaj dochodzimy do drugiego wielkiego problemu ówczesnej Rzeczpospolitej, którym była gospodarka. Ta była zacofana i wysoce nieefektywna.

Jednym z powodów było to, że chłopów traktowano jak bydło i adekwatnie do tego organizowano życie i prace folwarków. Drugim był brak wiedzy o nowoczesnych metodach uprawy rolnej i kapitału.

Brzostowski po pierwsze założył, że trzeba chłopów uwłaszczyć, bo praca na swoim daje większą motywację i to zrobił. Po drugie nauczył ich czytać i sprowadził książki, by było się z czego uczyć.

Ale po trzecie postanowił, że teoria i książki to coś, czemu może być trudno zaufać, więc postanowił świecić przykładem. Gospodarkę dworu zaczął prowadzić według najnowszej wiedzy rolniczej tego okresu. Tak by chłopi mogli zobaczyć praktyczne efekty i kopiować nowoczesne rozwiązania.

Zadbał nawet o... opiekę zdrowotną.

W XVIII wieku, przypomnę.

Efekty były świetne. Dobra rozkwitły, co pokazywał między innymi czterokrotny wzrost liczby ludności.

Jednak i to nie wszystko.
