And just like that I have done my last shift as an ITU nurse. I’ll miss everyone but I am so excited to start in my dream role as a SNOD in the new year 🥳
During the decade Paul worked with us & @RealPOGDogs, his love for dogs, cats & passion for animal welfare truly came to life. To quote Paul:
"Taking any animal into your life will inevitably end in heart ache, but you don’t worry about the hangover when you're at the party" 💙
A one-off 1% wealth tax on households with more than £1 million could fund the nurses’ demand for a fair pay rise 162 times over.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you we can’t afford to pay workers what they need and deserve.
Solidarity with members from @theRCN on strike today.
Wow!
@BBCNews found a woman whose daughter’s outpt appointment was cancelled today.
They clearly thought she would be anti the nurses strikes.
Instead she gave the most intelligent and empassioned argument for decent pay for nurses I have heard yet.
Bravo!
HEY RESUSCITATION ROOM & ICU NURSES
This long 🧵is for YOU
It is about your VALUE & your IMPORTANCE. Something I believe SO passionately & isn't broadcast from the rooftops loud enough or often enough, which it should be. So I'm here to yell it in your & your colleagues' faces
@EmergMedDr Sadly when the RCN asked if people wanted to strike although it was a resounding yes not enough members voted for them to allow it. Too many legal issues to go through in order for us to strike. We still need to have adequate service provision, something we’re barely doing now
@KatSuffolkSTN @RCNNRN I usually just bring snack foods, I’m the same I don’t really want a big evening meal and I prefer to just graze on little things. Sometimes I eat a meal before hand and then I’ll get home and have breakfast in the morning 😊
Not once would it have even crossed our minds to stay behind to have a drink after a hard day. It’s insulting to suggest otherwise. We wouldn’t even hug our colleagues, many a shift I would be crying in a cupboard, and the senior nurse could only offer a pat on the back.
Continue to be angered by the governments comments. During the first wave my mum would come home from her shift and cry for hours until I would come home from my shift and cry too. We wouldn’t even hug until we had showered to keep each other and my stepdad safe.
Our General Secretary and Chief Executive @patcullen9 has written to @Mike_Fabricant over his comments today on nurses drinking in staff rooms during #COVID19.
@MuthaHugger Completely agree, especially if we were allowed to wear nicer scrubs not the cheap ones the NHS give, I think they look SO much more professional and practical.
