@JNavok That is incorrect. Your ommision is the internet connection requirement. I have numerous discs that do not. Those games, Sony cannot take from me.

@Vanubis25 @RinoTheBouncer Sony will have 100% of theirs. Steam is the current king, because it's easy. It isn't the only source though. Some games you can buy direct!

Sony will move the goalposts again, and before long, you'll be paying a subscription for a game.
Want to play the next COD, you'll have to pay PS+ and also whatever subscription they charge for that game.

@ethangach I'll but a gaming laptop. It may still be digital downloads, but I'll have multiple sources, and more choice.
Sony has lost my purchase.

Sony are taking away a choice, and creating a monopoly for themselves, and people are supporting them!
If this continues, soon games will be a subscription service!

@PeterPolska @mrpyo1 Xbox is under new management. Their sales were falling too quickly, so they changed course. Exclusives being the first. The concept of game licence travelling with disc is another. According to reports, they're now trying to incorporate a disc drive into their next console.

@mrpyo1 Cancelled my PS+ and turned the internet off to it. (Wired connection) I'll use it for old discs I have.

@xDoc315x @TheOneSpyker @Ghost_1z8 You can buy PC games from numerous sources. Not just Steam. You can buy some direct, so no, it isn't the same.
If you want a digital playstation game, you have to buy it through Playstation.
That is a monopoly.

@davidscottjaffe If I buy a game, and it's poor, I can sell it. Someone else can then buy it at a reduced rate, and try it.
Sony want all that money.
Also, I'd prefer to buy a game I can stop playing at my choice. No internet connection, for a single player game.

I "Assume" you're happy never owning your games, and having a corporate tell you when you can and cannot play?
That is where this is going.
It will impede your freedom of choice.
