When I voted earlier this afternoon, per tradition, my mother and I voted together... I was able to cast my ballot.

She wasn’t.

She’s been Green forever. Updated her address with the state recently… and somehow the system has her registered as a Democrat. Closed primary. No Green ballot for her. Couldn’t vote for her own son.

That��s the system working exactly as designed. If nominated and elected, I will work towards changing that for independents at the very least. Everyday I meet an independent disappointed in their lack of ability to vote for me, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't *request*. The worst anyone can ever say is no.

@DuwayneCollier_ will address issues in our system like that. @jonralston4sos will not. Together we can make Duwayne the FIRST Black Secretary of State in Arizona history!! On this one issue some refreshing unity has appeared in our primary.
