To those who say "it's her choice" I used to say the same thing about my own Hijab.
I was covered head to toe. Even on the beach. Even with my male relatives. And when people challenged me, I said: this is my choice. You know why? Because the other option was burning in hell, hung by my hair for eternity. That's what they taught me since childhood.
Yes, let me repeat it for you to just understand about our version of “freedom of choice.” I grew up in an Islamist culture that gave me two options. Cover yourself and go to heaven. Or don't cover, and be hanged by your hair and burned in hell.
Like when someone puts a gun to your head and says "you can go left or right", technically, yes, that's a choice.
I picked heaven. I called it freedom. And I believed it, because that's what happens when fear is all you've ever known.
And if you think I shouldn't be telling you my story, I don't care. I really, genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, don't care. The women still living under that "choice"? I care about them.

@BiblicalBeauty@Jacjwill I respected his faithfulness to his church, his willingness to confess Christ in public, and how clearly he laid out the gospel. But when he went after certain Charismatics and Pentecostals, he painted with too broad a brush. On that point, I think he was wrong.
@BiblicalBeauty@Jacjwill During COVID, JMAC shut his church, then opened it again. He got threatened with arrest—nothing more—and turned it into a film casting himself with 16th-century martyrs. He bars women from the pulpit, but when trouble came, he went to Jenna Ellis for help. I’m not impressed.
@Phil_Johnson_ Also Spurgeon: “I could tell as many as a dozen similar cases in which I pointed at somebody in the hall without having the slightest knowledge of the person, or any idea that what I said was right, except that I believed the Spirit moved me to say it;

@Phil_Johnson_ "When my Lord and Master has any message to me he knows where I am, and he will send it to me direct..."
Amen. God speak directly, couldn't agree more.
@Skylar_Byrne They’ve been killing Americans since 1979 and have escalated attacks for several years now. Iran regime also sponsored hamas who have killed Americans lately and Houthis.
@Skylar_Byrne Word of mouth. Second-hand out of Tehran. An Iranian woman mentioned it on social media. The regime picked her up and held her for weeks. Her parents heard nothing until she was returned. They believe there’s truth to the story. Her crime was saying something online.
@JDShuttlesworth Maybe kids today don't want a job where they have to ask people for 10 percent of their income. Stop asking people to commit financial suicide, and maybe more of them would sign up. Just a suggestion, pray about it.
John Lennox has spent decades defending the Christian faith as a mathematician, philosopher, and apologist. But I’m not sure he’s ever said anything more beautiful than this.
