The block feature addresses two huge problems that have no other solution on this platform. Removing block without providing any solution to these huge problems is not a very good idea.

There is no point in blocking someone to stop them from seeing your content. It doesn't make much sense to post something publicly and block specific people. I agree with that point.

And you don't need to block someone to stop yourself from seeing their content. Mute is better for that purpose because it doesn't tell them you can't see the content and they're less likely to try to evade it with another account.

But you really do need a block feature to prevent people from using your reach to scam and deceive your audience. When scam accounts respond to my tweets, I block them and then they can't use my reach to scam my followers. Platform-level bans are just too slow to do this on their own.

And you need a block feature to prevent people from using their reach to harass your audience. While accounts are plentiful, accounts with lots of followers are scarce. An account with reach that I can't block can use their reach to harass and abuse my followers. Only block will fix this. And, again, platform-level bans won't do this on their own.
