@jonjonpoi2@C_Sommerfeldt And that’s your answer for everything. No analysis or audit of current programs and whether they are impactful or not. Just a tax in search of a program. You’re not a very serious person at all.
I was saddened to hear of the death of the great Martina Arroyo. I first heard her as a child listening to her on the radio perform at the MET Opera. I was honored to accompany her to the 125th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall. A great woman. A great talent. A great Diva. ❤️
Famed soprano Martina Arroyo has died. She was 90.
With her luminous voice and ease on stage, the Harlem native broke barriers as one of the first major Black opera stars in the 1960s and 1970s.
She was also familiar to the nation's TV viewers at the time as a frequent guest on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show."
In 2013, she was honored by the Kennedy Center, just one of her many awards.
Arroyo announced her retirement in 1989 and devoted herself to teaching.
@createcraig As a person who has lived in NY-13 since she was a child in Florida! For Mamdani—as my South Carolina grandmother would say—you reap what you sow!
@neeratanden Actually, my South Carolina grandmother said that all the time and as a person who has lived in NY-13 since Darializa was a child in Florida, I agree that Mamdani is definitely reaping what he has sown.
@politico@SpeakerMenin@POLITICOLive We’re facing an $8.8 BILLION deficit next year. Yet, these people are afraid to do the hard job of strategic budget cuts and are happy as a lark to continue to raise taxes and put their heads in the sand regarding NYC’s structural deficits. Yep. Leadership all around.
@mistergeezy AMEN!!!!! Exactly right and I say this as a person who has lived in NY-13 since she was a child in Florida! For Mamdani—as my South Carolina grandmother would say—you reap what you sow!

@sarahana@NYSComptroller So, I assume you are just fine with one of the most egregious parts of Mandami’s budget: pension amortization. The Mayor’s budget was “balanced” on the backs of working people of the NYC pension fund: police officers, firemen, educators, and civilian municipal employees.
@ManhattanMingle Incredible that Levine was just fine with one of the most egregious parts of Mandami’s budget: pension amortization. The Mayor’s budget was “balanced” on the backs of working people of the NYC pension fund: police officers, firemen, educators, and civilian municipal employees.

@KevinPlatz@nytimes There’s been exactly two that SPECIFICALLY acknowledged the budget deficits. TWO! This one on January 16th and the last one on May 12th. So, what’s your point?
