MAGA world spiraled into chaos over the weekend when right-wing disinformation influencers claimed @KamalaHarris was using AI to generate fake images of the massive crowds she’s drawing in battleground states. While it’s a new attack, it's an obviously transparent attempt to boost Trump’s ego and distract from the undeniable momentum and enthusiasm propelling the Harris campaign.

The Trump campaign is floundering. Trump himself can’t even muster the energy to hit the campaign trail—he spent the weekend playing golf instead. Faced with rough poll numbers, they’re desperately hurling anything they can at the wall, hoping something sticks.

A lot of you on this website know me as one of the #WhiteDudesforHarris guys, but I’m also one of the political world’s leading experts in AI right now. In fact, MAGA world spent a good chunk of time this weekend accusing me of creating these images, which I can assure you I did not. So I wanted to take a moment to give my quick take on this bizarre story:

One of my longstanding concerns regarding the rise of AI in our politics isn't just about bad faith actors using this technology to disrupt elections. They will, to be clear. My greater worry has always been how the very perception of truth and reality can be manipulated by bad faith actors because of this technology.

Candidates like Donald Trump, who lack moral scruples or any commitment to truth, can easily dismiss anything they dislike as fake. We’ve seen it repeatedly—any negative news story about Trump is quickly branded as “fake news.” Now, countless verified images from Kamala Harris rallies across the country are being dismissed as AI-generated.

We’re living in a post-truth world where people believe whatever they want, retreating into internet-based echo chambers that reinforce their views. This isn’t just a problem—it’s a crisis. Trust in institutions has largely crumbled. Too many people don’t trust political parties, politicians, or the media. This lack of trust makes disinformation even easier to spread, especially on social media. Furthermore, it makes it easier for Donald Trump to suck people into the MAGA whirlpool, which is one of the reasons we started @dudesforharris in the first place. This crisis highlights the urgent need for trusted sources of authority to provide people with reliable ways to discern truth from fiction.

Social media and Big Tech companies, in particular, have a responsibility to identify and label AI-generated content accurately. Transparency labels should be unmistakable, and verified content should be clearly marked. Microsoft has a great content checker tool, which is a step in the right direction. We need more tools like it. We also need to make sure the teams at these tech companies responsible for overseeing these issues are well-staffed and properly resourced. Implementing these measures would be a good start and make it harder for foreign or right-wing actors to exploit the fear of AI, as MAGA world did this weekend.

Fundamentally, our democracy cannot survive if large segments of the population are unable to discern the truth while scrolling through their social media feeds. There’s a lot of work to do—government action, public education on disinformation, and codes of conduct among political parties and strategists, to name a few. But right now, tech companies stepping up in the final months of this election is the most obvious way to address this issue. If they don’t, we may lose the battle for truth entirely.

BREAKING: President Biden brings down the roof with his first speech of the 2024 election year, hammering Donald Trump and MAGA with the fiery fury of a man on the right side of history.

This is the kind of heroic salvo that ends up in the text books...

The president gave the show-stopping speech near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and marked the third anniversary of Trump's Capitol insurrection.

Proving immediately that he is a better man and leader in every way, Biden said: "I’ll say what Donald Trump won’t. Political violence is never acceptable in the United States."

This is not the kind of thing that someone running for American president should even have to say, but given what we saw on January 6th it's a necessity.

But those weren't even the harshest words that Biden had to share about his insurrectionist opponent. During one particularly powerful segment, he ripped into Trump's blatant fascism.

"He calls those who oppose him vermin," said Biden. "He talks about the blood of America as being poisoned, echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany. He proudly posts on social media the words that best describe his 2024 campaign: 'Revenge,' 'power,' and 'dictatorship.' There's no confusion about who Trump is, what he intends to do."

"All out war is what Trump wants," said Biden. "And that's why he doesn't understand the most fundamental truth about this country. Unlike other nations on Earth, America is not built on ethnicity, religion, geography..."

"We're the only nation in the history of the world built on an idea," Biden went on. "Not hyperbole, built on an idea. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equally. It's an idea declared in the Declaration, created in a way that we view everybody as equal and should be treated equal throughout their lives."

"We've never fully lived up to that," said Biden. "We have a long way to go but we've never walked away from the idea. We've never walked away from it before. I promise you I will not let Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans force us to walk away now."

The crowd erupted in applause.

BREAKING: indicted 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is accidentally humiliated by his own chief lawyer as the lawyer launches into a pathetic courtroom rant that unintentionally exposes Trump as a serial criminal.

Donald Trump’s lawyer embarrassed Trump by begging the judge to allow him to attend the next court hearing “by phone” because Trump has SO many criminal cases against him going full-steam ahead that it would be physically impossible to attend them all in person.

Trump’s lawyer, Christopher Kise, told the judge, “As the Court may be aware, the undersigned counsel for President Trump, Christopher M. Kise, is unable to attend the November 1st hearing in person because he is engaged at trial in New York State Supreme Court. Given this conflict, the undersigned respectfully requests that this Court allow him to attend the November 1, 2023, hearing by phone.”

Trump’s lawyer continued his whiny courtroom rant, declaring that “the fact that they continue to contend that it is appropriate and not a violation of President Trump's due process rights to push forward with back-to-back multi-month trials in different districts with wholly different facts — over a defendant's objection — reveals a central truth about these cases.”

Simply laughable. Trump’s lawyer must not have thought this one through, because instead of making Trump look like the victim of a conspiracy to keep him from winning the pressing back in 2024, it instead painted a vivid picture of Trump as a serial criminal with a schedule that is so packed with felony cases that his lawyers can’t even keep up. The only “central truth” that these countless criminal trials “reveal” is that Trump is a lifelong criminal — and is now finally being held accountable for his actions .

BREAKING: Trumper Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene embarrasses herself on the international stage as she attacks the British government, declares that it is “going to start World War III.”

It all started when the British government announced yesterday that it plans to start providing training to Ukrainian troops to help them defeat Russia’s deadly invasion.

Today, Taylor Greene responded in Trumper fashion, taking Russia’s side and declaring that the British government is “going to start WWIII” by helping Ukraine protect its vulnerable population from Russia’s attack.

But Taylor Greene wasn’t done there, declaring that America “must not participate” in helping Ukraine defend itself — which would be music to Vladimir Putin’s ears.

It’s truly shocking to see an American member of Congress attack Britain, one of America’s top allies, with such an offensive, unhinged declaration.

To make matters worse, Greene is doing everything in her power to help Russia’s deadly invasion by weakening Ukraine’s defenses.

She’s not putting “America First,” she’s putting Putin first — and alienating our biggest allies.

BREAKING: Republican billionaire Elon Musk announces his latest plan to totally destroy Twitter and says that he will soon start charging every user a monthly fee to use the website — a move that will drive people away from the platform in droves.

Musk revealed the boneheaded move during a livestream conversation and said that X is "moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system" supposedly in order to combat "vast armies of bots."

Of course, the real reason Musk wants to reach directly into your wallet is because he has completely tanked Twitter's worth. It has nosedived since he took over due to a string of terrible business decisions. He has allowed Nazis and racists to flood the site, scaring off advertisers.

Now, he wants you to cough up your hard earned dough to make up for his own financial shortcomings. Like every other billionaire, he thinks the rest of us should pay for his mistakes.

Twitter was free before Musk took over. It should remain free.
