@bschneider126@Dusenberry_Golf The green on the par 3 6th is incredible.
Have you been to Francis Byrne post renovation? Similar tier as Keney, probably better IMO
@TronCarterNLU The valley of sin like front of that green, especially at the angle it was set at, was the main/best feature of the hole. Unserious is correct.
@SashoMacKenzie@LukeKerrDineen@TheStackSystem@Fit_For_Golf@jertybird This is more obvious if you consider broomstick putters. Clearly, those who switch to a broomstick do so because they disproportionately putt poorly with traditional methods. Would make sense for this to be true to a lesser extent with mallets.
@freewilllyyyy@GolfTravelerJoe@andrewjcarr29@incolnlay I did similarly in my practice round. The guy I was playing with blocked driver right (accidentally) and had a pretty reasonable shot in, which is what got me thinking about potentially blasting driver to the right
@freewilllyyyy@GolfTravelerJoe@andrewjcarr29@incolnlay That makes sense. I ultimately decided to hit 3 wood aimed at the mound since it was a little into the wind and my 3 wood pretty reliably hooks. It hooked… but I kinda popped it up a little, so I ended up not clearing the short left mound 😂
@freewilllyyyy@GolfTravelerJoe@andrewjcarr29@incolnlay 7 was wild. I think the play is to hit driver out to the right where it’s wider and you can get far enough down that the tree won’t block your line to the green, but curious what you think
@freewilllyyyy@GolfTravelerJoe@andrewjcarr29@incolnlay What was your strategy on this tee shot (4) and 7? I played in the same qualifier and struggled a bit with this decision.
I decided to push driver near the green on 4. With the pin tucked on the small front tier, also considered hitting a 240 shot short of bunker leaving ~80 yds
@Top100Rick Wouldn’t it make sense for the fairway to angle toward the OB instead of away from it? That way, playing closer to OB on your tee shot would give you a better angle from shorter distance for your approach
@freewilllyyyy@Top100Rick@Daniel_Rapaport Agreed. Strokes gained only measures how a round compares to the average/center of the distribution. Not a great measure of how extreme (great) a score is, which requires more information on the distribution.
@HackItOutGolf@SashoMacKenzie Essentially, the question is if the small correlation between speed and face-to-path variance is across players or within players, with the latter being the relevant measure in this scenario @SashoMacKenzie
@HackItOutGolf@SashoMacKenzie In addition to their ability to strike the center of the face. Do you have any data or insights as to that question? Please let me know if it would be helpful for me to clarify my question.
