This is heartbreaking. This is unacceptable. And as Senegalese people, we cannot remain silent.
Aminata Seck is a 26-year-old Senegalese basketball player and student-athlete at Kentucky State University. On August 7, she was detained by ICE at Louisville airport while travelling with her team.
More than a month later, serious questions remain about her situation.

According to reports from her lawyer, Aminata has been moved between several detention facilities while battling an ACL injury and severe pain. Her lawyer has reportedly struggled to locate her at certain points, and her family has also been unable to see her in person.

Imagine being injured, detained, moved from camp to camp, and separated from your family and the people who know you.
Imagine not knowing where your daughter, your sister, your friend or your teammate is.

Aminata is not just a basketball player. She is a young Senegalese woman pursuing her education and building a future through sport.
Whatever the circumstances surrounding her immigration case may be, her dignity, safety and access to proper medical care must not be forgotten.

I am calling directly on the Senegalese Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Senegalese Basketball Federation, the Senegalese diplomatic authorities and Consulate in the United States, and every Senegalese institution with the ability to intervene:
PLEASE DO SOMETHING.
Find Aminata.

Establish exactly where she is.
Make sure she has access to her lawyer and her family.
Make sure she receives the medical treatment she needs.
And make sure that her rights as a human being and as a Senegalese citizen are respected.
We cannot wait until something terrible happens before we start asking questions.

Aminata needs help. Aminata needs a voice.
