I am proud to be the Governor who says “yes” to commonsense legislation that keeps Virginians safe. Today in Norfolk, I signed legislation to keep dangerous weapons out of our hospitals and medical facilities. Because whether you’re recovering from surgery, visiting a family member, or one of the hardworking medical professionals who care for our loved ones, you deserve to do so safely and without fear.
Nicaragua: I deplore the death in custody of Indigenous activist Brooklyn Rivera and call for an impartial investigation. I urge the authorities to release all those arbitrarily detained and ensure detention facilities comply with international standards.

Brooklyn Rivera, a renowned Indigenous leader from Nicaragua who spent years fighting for the rights of his community and was imprisoned by the government in September 2023, has died. https://t.co/u2GNy973Ex
The recently released images of Indigenous leader Brooklyn Rivera in critical condition are horrifying. They provide further evidence of the cruel, inhumane treatment and possible torture he has endured in the custody of the Ortega-Murillo regime. After nearly three years of enforced disappearance, incommunicado detention, and denial of adequate medical care, the Nicaraguan authorities must immediately release Brooklyn Rivera to his family so he can receive urgent, independent medical treatment in a democratic country. Repression, secrecy, and cruelty cannot silence the voices of Indigenous communities and democracy advocates. All political prisoners in Nicaragua must be released. #FreeThemAll
Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America.
He embodies the broken system we’re running against.
It’s time to come together: The People vs. Ken Paxton
Our veterans deserve dignity, respect, and unwavering support. 🇺🇸
This Memorial Day, we honor the service members who gave everything for this country — and recommit ourselves to fighting for the veterans and military families too often left behind. #MemorialDay
On Memorial Day, the Commonwealth joins families, friends, and communities across the United States in solemn remembrance, paying tribute to the military personnel who gave their lives in service to our country, and honoring the profound sacrifices made in defense of liberty. Today, we lower flags across the Commonwealth in their honor.
Happy Mother’s Day, Virginia!
I hope every mother, grandmother, and mother figure across the Commonwealth enjoys a very special day filled with joy and love.
More than three million Virginians cast their ballots in Virginia’s redistricting referendum, and the majority of Virginia voters voted to push back against a President who said he is ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats in Congress with a temporary and responsive referendum. They made their voices heard.
I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.
