@kf@winnersusedrugs Perhaps on that matter we can agree to disagree. In the current state of how this world works, I believe that we need for-profit businesses to try to have a positive social impact. If we don’t support business leaders who have pro-social agendas we will be left with one who don’t
@winnersusedrugs@kf ...if only everyone else thought that way 🙌🏼...but until then, I think it’s important for people who have power to wield it cautiously and as responsibly as possible to do good.
I am deeply sorry if that belief that I strongly carry was lost in this mess.
@kf I sent out a poorly worded email that did not embody the spirit of our intent.
We DO NOT facilitate or support predatory behavior by landlords or tenants.
We believe that housing is a human right and we’re actively trying to ensure that this crisis is not used to harm renters.
@winnersusedrugs@kf I was able to raise our funding because I convinced a handful of smart people that now is the time for a new breed of capitalism that is thoughtfully responsible to take on big hairy social missions that postively impact ALL stakeholders, NOT only the elites.
@kf@winnersusedrugs @johnnemann No, not a Wranglers man. They were the cheap Levi’s, because when you grow up on food stamps that’s pretty much all we could afford.
And yes, my mom is a total she-wolf in the most positive sense of the word.
@kf@winnersusedrugs I started this company to empower people like my single mother, who somehow never missed a rent payment, but was held in borderline poverty due to the systemic flaws in our financial system.
Before COVID we actually offered a service to assist tenants by co-signing on leases
@winnersusedrugs@kf I sent an email to ask landlords to tell if they received rent on April 1st so that we could recalibrate our software to ensure that tenants impacted by this crisis are not unfairly impacted in the future when applying to their next rental property.
@winnersusedrugs@kf I believe that renters should build credit when making their rent payments and the same way home owners do when making mortgage payments.
I believe that the current credit bureau system is systemically discriminatory and not a fair indicator of one’s ability to be a good tenant
@ArshyMann@xokasia@Naborly Actually, we don’t disclose ANY rental history information with out getting express prermission from the tenant. I’d love the opportunity to have a dialog about how we are actually trying to help tenants and eliminate the systemic discrimination that exists in the rental industry
@jackhauen@downtownlegal@PrivacyPrivee@Naborly I’d love to weigh in on this story, as well as clarify how myself and Naborly are actually advocating to fix the rental industry in a way that is beneficial for tenants, not just landlords.
