Ph.D. | Wheat breeder and “Heirloom Mixologist” for the PNW region with @LimagrainWheat. #GoBeavs#GoCougs#WPS. From Monroe, OR. 🌾🍞🍜 Opinions are my own.
🚨 Stripe rust is here. Confirmed in eastern OR, with forecasts pointing to high pressure in 2026. Scout early, act fast on susceptible varieties—timing matters. Full report & recommendations: https://t.co/LbBa6AyDMj
Today the @uswheatassoc 2025 Wheat Improvement Team spoke to the KOFMIA group of millers and visited the Passion 5 bakery that uses 100% U.S. wheat in Seoul. Tomorrow we are off to Tokyo!
I’ve had the pleasure of representing @LimagrainWheat and talking to SE Asian millers and bakers who purchase US wheat as part of the @uswheatassoc 2025 Wheat Quality Improvement Team in Bangkok! I’ll also be visiting customers in Seoul and Tokyo over the next few days.
Wheat holds the most acreage of all crops planted in the Pacific Northwest (Idaho, Oregon, and Washington). 4.25 million acres were planted in the PNW in 2024. https://t.co/BI0BWfpXYV

💡 Thought of the day at #IWC2024Perth: we really need to get some sort of wheat trialing network going to formally connect Walla Walla, WA 🇺🇸 & Wagga Wagga, NSW 🇦🇺. What do you reckon @PhenologyisFun?
Great overview of the @LimagrainWheat N American program from Dylan Larkin
I had the pleasure of speaking about @LimagrainWheat in North America and about how we are using collaboration to develop better wheat varieties for growers! #IWC2024Perth
@Sim2010Mike Probably poor lighting on my part, the spores are much lighter in person. Leaf rust rarely occurs this early. On the other hand, stripe rust usually starts appearing around this time in the PNW.
Today was another great day for looking at plots in Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater, OR. The wheat is looking awesome at 3 nodes. Also, we have our first sign of stripe rust! #wheat#striperust
@dawdge It’s still very early, but most of our varieties normally show pretty good tolerance. This plot specifically is UI Magic CL+, our susceptible check.
