We are a group of neighbours, resident in E2, that have come together to advocate for healthier, greener & safer streets in our local community. In the week following #COP26 we urge @TowerHamletsNow to fully follow through on implementing the #LiveableStreets programme #E2notCO2
Calling Tower Hamlets dog owners - and anyone concerned by anti-social behaviour by a minority of dog owners. The consultation on the Aspire-run Council’s proposed crackdown has been launched. https://t.co/TdLlN3CXmj
It is the Tower Hamlets Council to implement measure to ensure that dogs are kept on leads at all times in Tower Hamlets! It is not possible to own a dog and keep it on a lead at all times.
My thanks to everyone who got in touch with me to express your concern regarding a Council proposal
to implement a PSPO to deal with dog related ASB. I spoke at cabinet this evening & asked for reassurance from mayor Rahman that he will commit to a full public consultation.
This should be a warning to rat run @LutfurRahmanTH . Putting cars before people and dividing the community with bogus culture wars is a guaranteed path to electoral oblivion.
'Who is the mythical voter who enjoys being told they are being persecuted?'
@mrjamesob calls the 'war on motorists' idea 'pathetic', adding the government isn't advertising their LTN report 'because it flies in the face of what they thought would be a rhetorical victory'.
I was in court for the latest stage in the sentencing of a hit-and-run driver who killed a young mother as she cycled home.
The CCTV of the incident was horrifying.
The victim impact statements from her widower and sister will stay with me forever. https://t.co/TbCC6pE7xD
@LutfurRahmanTH you could generate your cash shortfall this way rather than taking away the use of Victoria Park in the summer with one of the mostly densely populated councils in Europe with the youngest population in UK and one of the highest rates of obesity!!
We're delighted for people in Paris that drivers who choose SUVs are to pay more for parking, based on vehicle weight. SUVs increase danger (reducing inclusion for who will feel safe traveling actively) damage to roads, and have higher emissions. 1/3 https://t.co/TXOZWUmBJV
Stoppage on Brick Lane is growing by the minute. This is just one side street! Its an absolute disaster for @UberEats@JustEatUK and @Deliveroo who thought they could by algortihmic stealth exploit some of the most vulnerable workers in Britain. Tonight they're fighting back!

At tonight's Full Council, @TH_Labour cllrs will be focussing on the LGA Peer Review, which made 18 recommendations to restore the credibility + performance of Tower Hamlets Council. However, we have been shocked to see Mayor Rahman slip out plans for a 5% increase in Council Tax
on drivers to stop idling their car engines. It’s at epidemic proportion in TH. It would have the benefit of cleaning the air and keeping the park open for the summer months. I suppose Despair Mayor don’t care as he lives in Redbridge, we are just another cut through borough
Its a real shame that @LutfurRahmanTH believes the only way he can make money is taking away the use of Victoria Park for the month August. Tower Hamlets is one of the most densely populated boroughs in London and has the youngest demographic. How about starting to enforce fines.
@LutfurRahmanTH Keep the cycling and walking infrastructure in Bethnal Green and extend it across the borough. So Tower Hamlets with the one of the lowest number of car owners can move safely and healthy.
🚀 We're over 70% of the way towards our crowdfunder target!🙌🌟
A huge thank you to every single one of our supporters who have contributed to build this legal fighting fund to save our safer streets. 🤗
📅Since we submitted our claim in early December, there has been an exchange of legal submissions between our lawyers and Tower Hamlets Council.⚖️
This is the process by which the council sets out why a judge should dismiss our claim for judicial review and our lawyers explain instead why the judge should grant us a day at the High Court (aka substantive hearing). 🏛️
As of 15 January 2024, the court has all the documents in a bundle and we expect a judge to decide in the next month or two whether to grant us a substantive hearing.🤞 It is possible that we need to have a preliminary hearing first, or a judge can decide to grant the substantive hearing based on the bundle of documents. 📚
We will update as soon as we have clarity on the ongoing timetable.📢
We're not done yet, and we need YOUR support raising the remaining £20,000 to reach 100% to cover expected legal costs. 🌐💪
🙏 Please consider making a donation to support our cause and ensure justice prevails. Every contribution brings us one step closer to our goal. Thank you for standing with us! 💚💚💚
Stop the enshittification of Bethnal Green!
Support the crowdfunder to stop Lutfur Rahman ripping out our cycle lanes and pocket parks.

@PaulWri89662714@SaveBGstreets@LutfurRahmanTH I think you’ve misunderstood Paul, he is ripping it out at the cost of a
of £2.5M. We are saving the tax payer by taking him to court.
🌟UPDATE 🌟Today, we officially submitted our claim for Judicial Review of the dangerous decision by @LutfurRahmanTH to rip out cycle lanes and safer streets in Bethnal Green 🚴♂️🌳.
The mayor has ignored doctors, teachers, the police and the will of the majority of residents in multiple public consultations. We have no choice but to turn to the High Court to challenge what we believe is an unlawful decision.
Please support our crowdfunding campaign as we raise funds for legal fees. Your contribution will make a meaningful impact in challenging an unjust decision. 💚

They can find £2.5 M + to rip out the cycling and walking infrastructure. Now they want to turn Vicky Park into a cash cow at further expense to the quality of life of TH residents cause, guess what, they don’t have enough money. @LutfurRahmanTH
