The White House just sent out this memo formalizing the President’s decision to revoke security clearances for individuals who have angered President Trump in one way or another.

But again, people are reporting on this as if some of these people had security clearances to begin with or maintained their clearances.

Joe Biden has never had a security clearance in his life.

Biden’s access to classified information came by virtue of his position as a U.S. Senator, Vice President, and President.

All of those roles don’t give formal security clearances to the individual in office.

The same goes for Liz Cheney, Kamala Harris, Adam Kinzinger (as a member of Congress), etc.

Also, many people in these positions (and this includes the 51 intelligence professionals who signed the letter) do not maintain their clearances after they leave.

It is a pain in the ass to maintain that high level of a clearance; it is very, very burdensome.

Your travel and other parts of your life are highly scrutinized.

Signing executive orders and issuing memos like this just makes Trump supporters feel like the President is taking action when he’s just restricting something most of these people didn’t want anyway.
