@JW_eats_plastic@RyanHanaWWP@evanclough@WingedWheelPod Not convinced people will be lining up to take a $6.25M goalie off their hands. Even then, they'll still need more $. They need to fill 8 spots! They'll also have to re-sign Hart (who is going to want $ for his playoff performance).
@RyanHanaWWP@evanclough@WingedWheelPod That's why I'd be targeting them for one of those "options" - get Hertl or Barbashev to solve our top line LW problem.
I think the obvious answer to why Canadians, generally speaking, aren't getting worked up is that they can't imagine what someone else could do different to get a different result. It's possible that there is a different path, but no one is articulating it.
@coreyspowell I don't think I've ever seen that exact Calvin & Hobbes, but I've been saying "wow, Past Eamon was a jerk" for a long time. Good to hear someone else thinks the same way!
@krimar@MurphysLaw74 I think he's going to be pretty good, but the chances of a player becoming as good as Thomas aren't huge. That said, as a Wings fan I definitely hope the Habs don't add him.
@krimar@MurphysLaw74 Non-Habs fan: I think you're overvaluing Hage. Thomas is a 26yo point-per-game C. Only 18 Cs in the whole league did that this year and he's on a great contract for 5 years. It's really unlikely Hage becomes that - at his age Thomas was already a 0.6ppg player in the NHL.
@krimar@PatrickDenis20@CanadiensMTL Yeah, I didn't catch it. I'm surprised since it's not like he didn't play during the season. He'd be doing them a real favour if he waives the NTC.
@krimar@PatrickDenis20@CanadiensMTL Gallagher isn't going anywhere, is he? The contract is nuts for what he brings in terms of counting stats, but he also has a no movement clause. They'd have to pay a team to take him and he could just say no. Buyout possible, I guess.
So... they're just going through the Brexit greatest hits stuff now?
I remember when the Leave folks were like "we'll have better looking passports if we leave" as though that's a reason to leave.
@glen_mcgregor@Pagmenzies Yeah. I figured it was a lower number, especially with the current media landscape. I just figured you could take that $196k and divide by people/trips/each way and come up with a general idea of $ per person per plane trip.
@glen_mcgregor@Pagmenzies How many people would you guess are on the plane? Google says it holds up to 250+, but not sure that's accurate for your average overseas mission.
@TonyWolak@FlyingOctoPod I know you give him his flowers later in the article, but he should still be considered a bonafide top-six guy. They were short two, not three, this year.
@TonyWolak@FlyingOctoPod "the Red Wings only had three bonafide top-six forwards" - I'm guessing you're not talking about Kane, but he had 0.85ppg, while being one of the team's best 5v5 producers. He was 20th for ppg among RWs last year. He's a far-better-than-average 2RW.
