Joining forces to put plant-based foods at the heart of the transition towards more sustainable and healthy food systems in the EU. The future is #plantbased!
Veggie burgers survive, but plant-based steaks must be renamed under the new EU agreement.
While terms like “burger” and “sausage” remain allowed, rules create red tape for businesses and confusion for consumers.
EU should support food innovation, not slow it down. #PlantBased
We are proud to launch the #PartnersForPlantBased Declaration, signed by more than 75 organisations from across the whole European plant-based foods value chain.
👉 We invite all organisations across the value chain to join us and add their support: https://t.co/TLRT9Scq8B
The “veggie burger ban” replaces clarity with confusion.
The proposed EU naming rules would create needless #uncertainty for #plantbased and seafood producers. Europe should back #innovation, not add barriers.

🌱Investors managing $11.5 T urge food companies to shift from animal to plant-based proteins. The message is clear: the future of food must be resilient, sustainable & diversified and #Europe can lead.

When Denmark talks about plants, Europe should listen. 🌱🇩🇰 At the #PlantFoodSummit Denmark showed it can be done: a plant-based action plan that boosts farmers, innovation & demand.
Europe needs one too. Key for resilience, competitiveness & autonomy! 💪🇪🇺 @vegetariskDVF
🌿Europe’s food debate shouldn’t be about words like “burger”. Let’s focus on what matters: a level playing field for sustainable food producers. It’s all about fairness!

🌍 The new #EATLancet report is clear: plant-based diets can save millions of lives, cut food’s planetary impact & unlock $5T in economic benefits.
The EU must lead with policies for healthy, sustainable & competitive food systems.

🌱 Plant-based foods are one of Europe’s fastest-growing markets, driving #growth, #innovation & #jobs.
Extra EU restrictions on denominations risk fragmenting the #SingleMarket, stifling innovation & undermining consumer trust.

The recent vote in the European Parliament’s #Agriculture Committee to restrict the use of everyday terms such as “burger” and “sausage” for plant-based foods is a step backwards for Europe’s food system.
👇
As the alliance representing the #plant-based value chain, we call on all Members of the EP to reject this amendment and to stand with #consumers, #farmers, and #innovators. Europe needs policies that enable clarity, fairness, and innovation, not red tape.

🧠 Only 9% of consumers don’t recognize plant-based meat alternatives.
The current denominations clearly work — for people and for sustainability. Restricting them risks real harm: undermining clarity, limiting consumer choice, and putting the brakes on a growing sector.
🔍Transparent food labelling is a consumer right, not a regulatory afterthought.
Europe needs harmonised, science-based labelling rules that reflect how people make food choices and support the transition to healthier, more sustainable diets.
Consumers deserve access to clear information that enables them to choose sustainable and healthy food options.
️Restrictions on terminology for plant-based food products risk limiting transparency, stifling innovation, & adding complexity with no benefits for consumers.
Consumers are not concerned about using names like ‘veggie burger’ or ‘plant-based sausage’, as long as it’s clear the product is #vegetarian or #vegan.
This is a clear signal to #EU policymakers that people value clarity & are in favor of harmonised, evidence-based labelling. 💡
🇪🇸Spain just moved to recognise plant-based meals in schools.
This new legal framework explicitly allows families to request special meals for ethical or conscience-based reasons, which includes the right to access 100% plant-based menus.
