@IELTSetc Nice Q. If in doubt, check word lists out? Fluctuate is in both AWL and AVL and looks like a solid academic word, while oscillate is in neither but occurs in the SVL (technical lists) for Physics. Maybe some writers use them interchangeably but academic writing should be precise.
