HISTORIC HEAT WAVE IN RUSSIA
An exceptional heat wave kicks off today and will persist the whole week.
Today Temperatures up to 34C at 50 latitude and 32C at 60 latitude and will get much hotter next days.
Expect an avalanche of records with widespread 30/35C.
Temperatures in Latin America & the Caribbean in 2025 were among the warmest on record.
Changes in temperature can impact human health, agriculture and energy demand, ecosystems, biodiversity and the species and environments that support life on Earth.

100 Trees 🌱 | 100 Young Caretakers 💚
This Earth Day, students of Nav Jeevan Model School, together with the #EarthRootFoundation, didn’t just plant trees, they took responsibility to nurture a tree.
Real change grows with care. 🌱

Just arrived back in Delhi to find the city embalmed in an all-enveloping burial shroud of pollution. Even at 2pm impossible to see 100m across the runway.
I've never seen anything like this in forty years of living here. What a fate for the City of Djinns- still, at its best the most fascinating of cities, but currently a tragic, choking death-trap.
🇮🇳 Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day! Let's unite for a sustainable and thriving future.

Unparalleled views of sea level rise ⬆️🌊🛰
Global sea levels have risen more than 4 inches (102 millimeters) since measurements began in 1992, increasing coastal flooding in some places. Learn more: https://t.co/3AlxV8yHei
🌡️ On June 7th, Egypt 🇪🇬 experienced record-high temperatures, impacting daily life and stressing infrastructure. It's a stark reminder of the urgent need for climate action. Stay hydrated and stay safe!

Our kids will experience a hell they likely won’t survive.
A hell the fossil fuel industry has known about for over half a century.
A hell our governments subsidised with $7 TRILLION last year.
A hell every corporate owned politician & journalist is happy to let happen.
🌊 Since 1993, global sea levels have risen by over 90mm due to climate change. We must act now to mitigate climate impacts and protect our planet's future.

A M O C are the four most important letters in my life - in your life reading this - in everyone's living on this planet. Even if we truly understood even a little of what is at stake, we would be spending days unable to speak - traumatised by horror and terror.
And then we would know what we are going to be doing for the rest of our lives.
Doing what it takes to stop this from happening. https://t.co/COakHMIpf0…

"Consequences: Modelling by Prof. Peter Ditlevsen of the University of Copenhagen shows that AMOC slowdown would cool London by an average of 10°C and Bergen, Norway by 15°C. A breakdown of this system could plunge the UK and large parts of the Northern Hemisphere into a new ice age ... "
Global food and water security crisis: Ditlevsen and his co-authors conclude that a collapse of the AMOC heat-transporting circulation would be a going-out-of-business scenario for European agriculture: “You cannot adapt to this”.
In addition, writes Prof. Tim Lenton, the director of the Global Systems Institute at the University of Exeter, the monsoons that typically deliver rain to West Africa and South Asia would become unreliable, and huge swathes of Europe and Russia would be devastated by drought. As much as half of the world’s viable area for growing corn and wheat could dry out. He says that “in simple terms [it] would be a combined food and water security crisis on a global scale.”"
Billions of people are currently surviving in temperatures between 45 and 50C. This is "only" at a 1.5C global increase. At 2C, these regions will become unbearable for long periods of the year. The lack of a coherent plan for this is shocking. #Mitigation is urgent.
