The SS were so excited to learn about my trip to the @gfsnj ! They were mostly surprised with the large scale sculptures and the level of interaction allowed to the visitors. They had so many questions!!! I love the feeling of sparking curiosity in my students! 🤗
I truly wish all my students would visit @gfsnj one day... The images don’t do it justice. They would recognize so many famous paintings transformed by Seward Johnson into sculptures, and notice simple life moments eternalized by his art. The impact would be inevitable.
The founder of @gfsnj , Seward Johnson, once said, “I am serious about giving someone the ability to penetrate a work of art and react to it. I have given them a place they can come to for sustenance and spiritual support.” I would add, [and have lots of fun!]. 😄 #artmatters
Fiber arts offer the opportunity to stimulate the senses in such a way that fosters engagement and persistence (#studiohabitsofmind), fine-motor skills and attention to detail. These projects were created by students learning remotely. Aren’t they incredible?! 😃

When students are given art open-ended assignments, their imaginations go wild! When the creative part of the job is done by them, the students achieve self-fulfillment because they meet expectations set by themselves. I bet some of these sculptures will surprise you! 😉
I’m so excited to share some of the most amazing clay creations by my remote art students! This has been a year filled with challenges, but the students’ hard work and love for art made it so much sweeter!
