I am disappointed for the thousands of workers who will benefit from the Good Jobs Bill that it did not progress at today’s Executive.
This Bill includes important rights and protections for workers that will improve their working lives and work-life balance.
It was my preference that the Bill would pass to the Economy Committee in advance of summer recess to give it maximum scrutiny time but for the avoidance of doubt, there is plenty of time remaining in this mandate for this legislation to be properly scrutinised and passed.
I remain committed to working with all parties and partners as the Good Jobs Bill progresses to ensure it works for all.
Full solidarity and support with Róis-Máire, it is outrageous that she has been threatened in this way.
There is no justification for racist violence witnessed on our streets - those responsible for it and for threats will not succeed.

No British Government ever has or ever will serve the interests of people here, in Scotland or Wales.
More and more people are looking to the potential alternative and the hope for better - for us in the north of Ireland we have a democratic path to ending the Union with Britain and the opportunity to create a brighter future for all the people who call this island home.
It is time now for proper planning and preparation for a unity referendum 🙌🏻
As Economy Minister, I committed to ongoing, meaningful engagement on the Good Jobs Bill.
Following further engagements with employer and trade union reps, I have decided to exempt businesses with less than 10 employees from the workplace trade union access provisions.
It is now time for the landmark Good Jobs Bill to progress into the Assembly for democratic discussion and scrutiny.
The latest US tariff threat is an intolerable attempt at coercion.
I’ve reached out to the Irish & British governments urging consideration of the north’s unique circumstances & for coordination in any responses.
I’ll be convening an urgent meeting of my tariff working group.
Since the Executive returned in 2024 there has been a 22% increase in student numbers at Magee & all the land to accommodate 10,000 students purchased.
As Economy Minister I am committed to ensuring delivery on this important priority & on the huge economic potential of the NW.
Fab to support the annual @samaritans collection - every year it is so heartening to see the generosity of people & support the Samaritan’s absolutely vital work.
If you’re struggling & need to talk to someone this Christmas or anytime, the Samaritans are there 24/7 on 116 123💚
Delighted to confirm student numbers at @UlsterUni Magee have now reached 6505.
This is real delivery on the commitment to Magee, and to Derry.
While there is much still to do, there is tangible momentum building and I am pleased with the progress being made.
Delighted that Co Fermanagh will now be included in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.
This is a really positive milestone which will boost the fabulous tourism offering in the Erne region, while the inclusion of the region will also be a significant addition to the brand 🙌🏻
From my first day in office, I made a commitment to be a First Minister for all and I am fully committed to delivering on that promise.
Today, I will attend an event at Belfast City Hall to remember all those who lost their lives during the First World War and in subsequent conflicts.
As First Minister, it is my responsibility to acknowledge and show respect for all traditions and perspectives in our society.
I also bring my own lived experience, political perspective, and aspirations for Irish unity, as a proud Irish Republican.
And while we may not agree on everything, we must find common ground in respecting each other’s traditions and perspectives.
Our people have travelled a long road to peace.
But peace is not a single moment in time, it is a journey.
I will continue moving forward, taking the necessary steps even when difficult, because it is the right thing to do for our people and communities.
Politics must give hope to the next generation, ensuring our children and grandchildren grow up in a much better world than we did.
We are living in a time of enormous change on our island, and that requires positive leadership, and I will not shy away from that responsibility.
Brilliant to spend some time with everyone at the @HarryGreggF at @UlsterUni Coleraine this morning.
Hundreds of kids from clubs near and far playing football and having fun, supported by brilliant volunteers.
Amazing work happening here 👏🏻👏🏻
Go raibh míle maith agat Uachtarán Michael D. Higgins 👏🏻👏🏻
Michael D has been a President of principles, integrity, & for all who call this island home.
I wish you, your formidable wife Sabina & your family the very best for a happy retirement as your time in office ends 💚
Uachtarán na hÉireann 🙌🏻

Proud that after a campaign that was one of hope for fairer Ireland, the people have chosen a President of vision, compassion and integrity.
Together, we can shape a new Ireland.
Justice delayed is justice denied!
My solidarity and thoughts are with the Bloody Sunday families who will undoubtedly be hugely disappointed by today’s outcome.
Your courage and dignity in your long fight for truth and justice remain an inspiration and example to all.
As Economy Minister, I am committed to working with all partners & local community in Derry to deliver on the PfG & NDNA commitment to Magee expansion.

Their legacy calls us to stay true to their vision of justice, equality & unity.
For them, we will write Irelands next chapter - united & free.
