Up the jungle for a morning session now casting to big Brown and eager Rainbow trout.
Over a dozen fish landed and retuned and a couple of monsters lost.
Great news! Te Urewera re-opens tomorrow to mahuhiri (visitors), with some special level 2 conditions applying.

Timberlands are opening recreational access to Kaingaroa and Rotoehu Forests, and through Waimangu Forest for access to Lake Rotomahana, from 23 May. Access is on weekends only and by permit only. Go to this page for permits: https://t.co/O2xVKOlE3z
Some of our smaller, lesser know lakes are worth a visit at this time of the year. Rerewhakaaitu, Okaro, Nagpouri, Rotoma, Rotoehu and Tikitapu are all good spots for a trout fish
Some nice fish coming thru the trap - this solid 3 year old (Rpad fin mark) hatchery release jack is just under 3kg.
Hopefully it's a sign off things to come?

There are a lot of questions out there about what can and can't be done at the moment. Here's a handy web page which allows you to search for things you can do while under level 3 restrictions:

Beautiful day at Tarawera for the Level 3 'opening'. A few anglers enjoying the sun and majestic views.
Lots of fish smelting off the beach this afternoon too.
Countdown is like Christmas for kids - big kids! Remember, stay local, stay in your bubble, shore based fishing only, take care.
