I've had this idea for about 20 years but finally implemented it: It's a visual representation of how hard it is to win the lottery. It shows a black ball (your winning ball), then shows the 25 million other balls. Buckle up. https://t.co/P7nbHxF9ln

I spun it off from my Vegas Crash Course and expanded it.
Corrections / updates always enthusiastically welcomed.
Jokers Wild just closed. This was the last picture we took on the way out. Cadence Crossing, its replacement, opens Wednesday. Our trip report from tonight will be on @Vegas_Advantage tomorrow.
@jedirich_ It helps to understand what -7.5% means. That's one out of 13. So look at the crowd, and for every 13 people, imagine one fewer person. It's barely noticeable in a photo or video, but it's enough that workers have their hours cut or lose their jobs.
@jedirich_ Put it in perspective. The year-over-year drop via the airport is 8%. That's not enough to make the casinos feel empty, but it's enough to send shockwaves through the local economy (e.g., hours cut and job losses). That's one reason the drop is getting a spotlight.
Easy Vegas has tracked every casino opening/closing/name change for years. Did you know the Rampart Casino is no longer Rampart? Here's our list of changes. https://t.co/cet4W4OSMI
Casinos were right to freak out about the new law that limits gambling loss deductions to 90%, spooked a lot of gaming enthusiasts. We quit gambling (still play, but only with free play and winnings) for other reasons, but that Big Beautiful Botch hasn’t helped.
The bridge from Venetian to Sphere has “moving” walkways. I was here opening night in September 2023 and since then I have walked this bridge 10 times for various shows and NOT ONCE have they been moving.🫤

I talked to a CPA (expert on gambling taxes) & asked “When you’ve taken on new clients, before u told them to keep the IRS-required session log, how many of them were already keeping one?”
Answer: Zero
So see my new article on how to keep a session log: https://t.co/wrEXf6kchn
Not a political take — just something I’ve noticed living in Vegas.
I talked to a Canadian guy last night who still comes here every year.
None of his friends do anymore.
They’re skipping the U.S. for now. No drama. They just aren’t booking trips.
That matters in a city like Vegas.
Canadians have always been a big part of tourism here. When fewer show up, you feel it fast:
• Slower Strip nights
• Fewer shifts
• Less tip money
• Quiet souvenir shops
Tariffs don’t help either. A lot of Vegas souvenirs are imported — higher costs + fewer tourists = thinner margins for small shops.
No politics. No sides.
Just how a tourist economy works when visitors quietly stay home.
Vegas is still Vegas —
but you can tell who isn’t here. 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Just updated my articles on gambling taxes. Guessing this one will resonate:
9 Reasons Why Gambling Taxes are Unfair.

Maybe @John_Mehaffey and @Mehaffey_KM will be interested.
@John_Mehaffey Thanks for pointing out the context, that losses aren't higher at 6:5 @ $5 vs. 3:2 @ $15. On the other hand, the chances of winning are lower with 6:5 even if average loss is the same.
@KFluffy3@John_Mehaffey It's the opposite: Randomness is what makes it possible to figure the odds. Coin flip game: bet $1, lose on heads, get paid 90¢ on tails. That's 95% RTP if flips are random. If flips are not random it's impossible to calculate. Casinos aren't giving the odds, mathematicians are.
As a writer, I pride myself not on my prose, which is mediocre at best, but on how I organize topics + spotlight the takeaways. But I was never happy with my Gambling Taxes article, it wasn't awesome. So I just rewrote it and now I'm finally satisfied. https://t.co/AAuCwSVBgA
@VitalVegas@VitalVegas' complaint made me realize I neglected to show my work for slot handpays like I did for other workers. I just added it to the article. I've invited VitalVegas to share his suggested tipping amounts and I'll publish them if he does.
Easy Vegas is different from the other Vegas guides, and here’s one way: Our tipping guide is the only one based on making sure workers make a Living Wage. (@VitalVegas probably thinks we're lowballing though.) Also, it was recently cited by the LV Sun. https://t.co/pF4fQW1GFH
