The record was 31 back in 2014, set in the five boroughs of New York City. Unfortunately, the expanded field has allowed this record to be beaten in Los Angeles.
In my opinion, the World Cup brings out the best of Los Angeles and Southern California.

Part 1 of 6 of my World Cup wrap-up is up! Started being crazy long, so I am going to break up the coverage to 8 nations at a time:

I celebrated the World Cup with 42 different nations, following their fans to some memorable watch parties.
I will have an article about it all coming out soon, but see some short videos of each in my Instagram highlights:

Somewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman @ZohranKMamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment.
You grew up rich and married an even wealthier woman. Youโve had weddings on 3 continents. You own property in LGTBQIA+ murderous Uganda. You make $142,000 a year plus stipends, and your wife works too, meaning you together likely make well over $200,000. No matter which way you cut it: Zohran Mamdani is a rich person. You are actually very rich.
Yet you and your wife pay $2,300 a month, as you have bragged, for a nice apartment in Astoria. That should be housing for someone who needs it.
We are in the middle of a historic affordability crisis. Millions of low income New Yorkers need this apartment and an apartment like it. Yet your apartment remains rented to rich people who donโt need it.
Today, I am calling on you to move out immediately and give your affordable housing back to an unhoused family who need it. Leaders must show moral clarity. Time to move out.
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until itโs done.
My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.
I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
I wrote about Indigenous voices and foodways in Southern California. I would be really grateful if you gave it a read.

Putting a Substack link here automatically makes sure it is seen by far fewer people than normal, so please share it if you enjoy.
Thank you so much to Karen Palmer and @SFGate for featuring the restaurants in Los Angeles we love to eat at! Was a really fun conversation.

Putting the finishing touches on our new article for tomorrow. Really excited to bring this story to our paid subscribers, dishes Los Angeles has not seen until now and a growing community centered around a food truck.
Link in bio, you know.

This platform is definitely still hiding posts with a link to a certain publishing platform. I hope you can eventually see this. Feel free to subscribe for free to make sure you get all my restaurant writing in your inbox.
The first article I ever wrote on Eat the World Los Angeles was about Inglewood's Mariscos Chente. It is still fabulous and kicks off our very first "Friday Favorites" on Substack.

Let's talk about being mesmerized by rotating spits of shawarma and hypnotized by the smoke and aroma of meats grilled over mesquite wood in Anaheim's Little Arabia.

Let's talk about Palestinian chicken, Larry David, and the new fast casual joint on Slauson that would probably cause him to have an accident.

Going to dinner at the new Netflix pop-up restaurant is basically just being a scab. Why would you do that?
DON'T BE A SCAB.
MONDAY PSA ๐ฃ
Just because you did not know about a restaurant/vendor last week, a place is not "hidden," "secret," or "underrated."
Chances are the community they exist in already loves them.
Your adjectives are outing you. Find new ones!
