@medicalmodelbri@CiaraMcMillan4@The_HCPC Obviously there’s issues - maybe I’m too far up “the ladder” to see them but I think medicine is a fantastic career still!
@muskonomy@deek_aka@MarioNawfal This really is a triumph of marketing over sector knowledge. A “robotic” surgery sounds like it’s an autonomous device but it’s just posh laparoscopic surgery requiring 2 human surgeons to operate it. It’s great but definitely not a robot “doing” it!
@PedroOscarRCun1@DrEilidhMaria One imagines for an unemployed 17/18 year old with no income, credit score or assets borrowing such a large sum of money wouldn’t be feasible
@dieracg@jackbardwell99 The consultant supervision in anaesthetics is indeed excellent. The converse of this is you are put in a management/leadership role at an early stage in EM with lots of autonomy and responsibility. ST4 onwards you get 8 hours/week SPA time to study, teach, theatre or clinic etc
@dieracg@jackbardwell99 I’m glad it’s a good fit for you! I couldn’t do it for my whole career.
I know many EM consultants very happy in their jobs. It’s about finding the right fit for the person
@monkeymonk2012@BohemianAtmosp1 In departments that offer this, there are larger posters all over explaining it is an optional service. It’s recommended nationally in the UK for areas where the rates of HIV are sufficiently high (>1 in 500 people).
