Something that will just always confuse me about DC Studios is them choosing Tom King of all people to hop on board and be placed on a pedestal as their in house comics guru where now two of his works are being adapted in the DCU. As well as him writing the pitch bible for the Lanterns series.

Like just ignoring his whole controversy, he’s just not really someone you’d want to help build your DC universe. His most successful works are standalone graphic novels for a reason, as whenever he’s on a mainline title it sucks and all future writers want to do is wash away the bad taste he left behind.

You have Geoff Johns who, despite being known now as an asshole, is a very competent writer who’s very knowledgeable and diverse in the characters he’s writing. His Superman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, and JSA runs are some of the best most impactful runs these titles have ever had. He was even behind the Stargirls series which is not just one of the best superhero shows but an excellent DC Universe show! I get that they tried him before but the DCEU was a mess and there was no way he had an actual say in what was going on there with how inconsistent everything was.

We could’ve had Grant Morrison there instead if we wanted to try something wildly different, considering their works are already being adapted in the DCU and he has pitched to WB before. Doom Patrol is one of the best DC shows period, and that was directly inspired by their work. They’re extremely knowledgeable of these characters and their history.

Hell if you wanted to try something really new and modern you could’ve just went with Scott Snyder. He is killing it right now with his Absolute universe and has proven multiple times he knows how to lead a team and an initiative with DC. He speaks to both modern readers and older fans in offering something familiar and exciting.

Even MARK WAID, for all his slip ups, is an EXTREMELY better option to help lead your DC universe!

Why would you hand the keys to a cinematic universe to someone who is known mostly for deconstructing characters, rather than enhancing or celebrating them?
