On this date in 1950, Carter Godwin Woodson died. Known as the “father of Black history,” he created “Negro History Week,” which later became Black History Month.

He had deep ties to DC. He taught & was Dean at @HowardU College of Arts & Sciences. He died at his home in Shaw.
