Ashe and Frans' outfit designs are unfortunately problematic for the well-developed and inspiring characters they actually are. FFXII is worth playing for these ladies' storylines alone.
(Am biased because XII and VII are tied to be my 2nd-favorite Final Fantasy.)

For me, it depends on how the book failed me and on how much I was hooked by the concept.
Writing style: 2 paragraphs – 2 pages.
Main character: 5 – 30 pages.
