@kingstonpips Interesting seeing the same concept applied again. Do you find it performs consistently across different market conditions, or are there particular conditions where you avoid the setup?
Human vs automated trading โ both have strengths. Both have weaknesses.
As we continue developing and testing our EA, we're looking closely at both sides.
What can a good discretionary trader recognise that an EA might miss?
And what does an EA do better than a human trader?
If you could ask one question that would really test automated trading, what would it be? ๐
Same market. Different conditions. Different challenges.
July tested risk management. August has been testing patience.
It got us thinking about something bigger:
How well can an automated trading system recognise that the market environment itself has changed?
Can it distinguish between high volatility, low volatility, trending and choppy conditions โ and more importantly, know when its normal strategy may no longer be appropriate?
If you were testing an EAโs ability to adapt to changing market conditions, what question would you ask it? ๐
@Hydra_Thahmid What a contrast to July ๐ One month tests your risk management, the next tests your patience. Markets certainly know how to keep us humble.
@Juanfertor66@Hydra_Thahmid This is where automation can have a real advantage. If the rules say the conditions arenโt right, it simply doesnโt trade โ no FOMO, no frustration, no trying to force a setup. The hard part is making sure the rules are good enough in the first place.
@KralKiri2025@Hydra_Thahmid Exactly. You canโt eliminate the bad reads, but you can control what they cost you. Thatโs where good risk management earns its keep.
@sheikG11@Hydra_Thahmid This is exactly what trading needs more of. Anyone can post the winning days โ the losses and how you respond to them tell you far more about a strategy over the long term.
@Hydra_Thahmid Really clean example of PO3. ๐ Curious โ was the HTF narrative what gave you the confidence to treat that drop as manipulation rather than a genuine bearish move?
@major_shem@Hydra_Thahmid That's the frustrating part ๐ Right bias, right destination... market just didn't wait for the entry. Better missed than chased though.
This really hits home right now. We took some big losses during the recent volatility, recovered some ground, then stopped and asked ourselves: what can we learn from it?
That question has led to changes in our EA that we're really excited about.
Sometimes the difficult periods teach you far more than the easy ones.
@rraytradess Iโd want one more number before choosing โ drawdown.
Win rate and RR look great on paper, but how the strategy behaves during the losing periods matters just as much. For us, staying in the game always comes before chasing the headline number.
@dboyinvests ๐ Trading really does completely recalibrate what you consider an acceptable amount of money to lose.
ยฃ70 trainers? Absolutely not.
ยฃ500 drawdown? "It's part of the process." ๐
