"Progression independent of disease activity is the most important problem that we need to solve," said Professor Ludwig Kappos at ECTRIMS 2025.

"We observed that the infusion of autologous bone marrow was associated with reduced rate in change of the global evoked potential at 12 months," adds Dr. Claire Rice of the University of Bristol.

Is curing multiple sclerosis possible and how is a "cure" defined? CURE-MS is a study aimed at answering these questions and reaching consensus. CURE-MS is a modified Delphi panel study using a multistakeholder approach, which includes MS neurologists, patients, patient advocates and industry representatives.

Today, on International Clinical Trials Day, we recognize the essential role of clinical research in advancing multiple sclerosis care.

A key goal of ECTRIMS’ mission is to actively support and coordinate initiatives in research and clinical care in Europe and worldwide. Through activities like the International Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in MS (IACCTMS) – jointly sponsored by @ECTRIMS and the @mssociety – the MS community continues to provide guidance and perspective on the planning and implementation of clinical trials for new MS treatments.

"While the criteria are a big step forward, obstacles remain in differentiating MOGAD from MS, which is crucial given the differences in treatment," says Professor Anne-Katrin Pröbstel of Universitätsklinikum Bonn and Universitätsspital Basel (USB).

"A key unresolved question in MOGAD management is: how long do we treat people for, both after an initial attack and in those who experience relapses?" adds Dr. Wei Yeh of Monash University in Melbourne.
