This week saw a number of students take part in the Rotary Young Chef Competition. Our winner is heading through to the district Finals on the 9th February!

This week in Food Tech we talked about the impact of food shortage and what could be an alternative protein source. The answer insects!! Students got the chance (if they wanted) to try either crickets, mealworms, locusts. Well done to all those tried them! #weareEDA

As part of our Y7 curriculum, students have been working with metal. As part of this topic they have gained knowledge on the categories of metals, the designers Charles and Ray Eames, and the practical skills to work with metal! Our first batch of Eames Animals have been made!

Another fantastic opportunity to visit @williamsf1 with Year 8 today. Students got to work in teams on a STEM challenge, get an insight into careers in STEM, view the huge collection of F1 cars and race each other on the simulators!

Today, Y7 and Y8 students got the chance to drive the Segway-powered STEM Karts around the inflatable track set up in the school’s sports hall. Students were fully engaged and learnt about the science, technology, engineering and maths behind racing!

A couple of weeks ago, we had our Careers Day. On this day Year 8 were looking at STEM careers, with one session focussing on engineering. Students were tasked with designing a prosthetic arm for a client. Out of all the students, these were the top 3 designs. Some great ideas!!

Last week a group of Year 7 students were able to understand how mechanisms worked in a variety of automata’s at the MAD museum in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and found the pieces fascinating! #learningoutsidetheclassroom #weareEDA
