COMELEC once refused to act even after Senator Rodante Marcoleta himself admitted receiving ₱75 million in campaign contributions that were not declared in his SOCE. In trying to defend himself, he put the facts on record himself: three donors, three separate occasions, while he was a Congressman and Senate candidate.

Now, it is that same admission and affidavit that led the Field Investigation Bureau of the Ombudsman to recommend plunder and bribery charges. The good Senator may have dug his own grave.

How do you even process something like this…

A woman stabbed 258 times.
A newborn left covered in blood.
A killer filming it… then taking selfies.

And the sentence… five years.

Five.

Years.

The explanation given… “low IQ.”
Since when does diminished intellect erase extreme brutality? Since when does the scale of violence become negotiable?

And another question people are quietly asking but no one wants to say out loud…

Who is being protected here… the victim… or the narrative?

Because this is not just a crime… this is a collapse of moral proportion. A young Dutch mother loses her life in one of the most savage acts imaginable… and the punishment reads like a clerical error.

Europe keeps telling its citizens everything is normal… everything is under control… yet stories like this keep surfacing and people feel the same shock.

Shock at the violence.
Shock at the justification.
Shock at a system that seems detached from the gravity of what happened.

A society reveals itself by how it responds to evil… and this response leaves people staring at the screen asking the same question…
