@weatherwilly Will do! Storm is starting to really act like a hurricane. Dry air and winds wrapped in on the East side. Best precip son the west side. Fascinating Met Stuff. Many booms and busts to come with this one perhaps?
@BostonWxConsult Just like a hurricane the East side gets more wind and dry air, while the west side gets more precip in the deformation band. Models caught it days ago. some parts of RI and South Shore Mass might be a bit closer to it. Boston maybe 15-18 inches. No complaint. Just that storm.
@BostonWxConsult This storm ended up tucking in and giving the areas to the Southwest 1996 totals and Nemo totals. The big storms dump 30-40 inches in those areas. In Eastern Southern New England we can sometimes get 24-28 inches, but not those totals. That’s why Boston has never eclipsed 30 in
@ryanweather Can you please elaborate on this new normal climate shift for a bit for the next 25-30 years in winter as you just said when you grab a few moments? Thank you Ryan!
@ContentWxGuy When can we finally in history have an Eastern Mass Blizzard with 36 inches in Boston and hurricane gusts to 85 mph. Is this impossible, honestly? Because it’s never happened before? Asking for a friend lol.
@SteveOweathaguy Great job here Steve! I know you like the 1978 analog, but if the next 2 storms hit with the dates as they would be, then you might have a pretty good comp to 2015. 80 inches in many places within 3 weeks that year.
@ContentWxGuy 3 inch per hour band entering Plymouth. enjoy! Will this pattern become February 2015 again, or close to it? If the weekend and next are big hits then yes.
@BostonWxConsult@630pm@WX1BOX 10 miles Southwest of Boston Harbor and definitely a solid foot. Amounts only 1 inch per hour because of heavy sleet. Thinking areas like this tough time getting to 18-20 by Storm end now, and short of higher res model outputs to 24 inches. No complaints at all though lol.
@ryanweather Great work Ryan as always and much appreciated! Up here in Boston, quite a storm too. When do you feel the next one comes for the East Coast? Thank you sir!
@ContentWxGuy Plymouth if no sleet is 20-26 inches. Boston is 20-22 inches. Just estimates at this time, but the Monday afternoon and evening back side and ocean fetch in play. 8-9 days later on the clock now for next. Thursday night sneaky coastal snows too. Great job @contentweather.
@BostonWxConsult In late Jan to mid Feb 2015 Boston and points North and South Shores received 70-85 inches of snow from 4 storms in 3 weeks. Over under right now for the next 4 weeks is 40-50 inches. A mini version potentially unfolding? Yes, we don’t shovel potential lol.
@ContentWxGuy Time to start asking is this pattern going to turn into late January to late February 2015 for SNE? Some ducks on the pond With the amount of snow and cold potential. At the least. One storm at a time.
