I'm enjoying the 'unpopular poker opinion' takes, so I thought I'd give it a try:

Despite the overwhelming desire to 'move up to where people respect your raises,' 99.9% of tournament players would make more money in poker if they moved down in stakes.

You might read this and think 'Well sure, but I'm in that .01 percent.'

You're probably not.

Thinnest edges almost always comes from the top of your buy-in range, which means it's the stake where you'll experience the most variance. And it's quite possible your losses aren't variance related at all.

Move down ➡️ Have a higher edge ➡️ Experience less variance ➡️ Make more money
