Development of a Novel Psychosocial Screening Questionnaire for Parents/ Caregivers of Children Diagnosed with Early-Stage Pre-Symptomatic Type 1 Diabetes

As part of the EU @EDENT1FI group (https://t.co/8olXtdmbJS) we are developing a novel questionnaire to assess mental wellbeing of parents and caregivers of children who have been diagnosed with early-stage pre-symptomatic type 1 diabetes.

Whilst every effort is taken to ensure families understanding the process and implications of screening, we know that sometimes the diagnosis can be surprising or unsettling. The purpose of the questionnaire is to identify anyone at risk so that appropriate support actions can be put in place.

🔬#HelmholtzMunich researchers found that the simultaneous occurrence of two or more dysglycemia abnormalities better identifies children at high risk of rapid progression to clinical diabetes than existing criteria (#ADA or #TrialNet).

💡Their findings highlight the importance of precise definitions and early detection through screening programs like the #Fr1da-Study, which enable timely #diagnosis and #therapy.
