🇳🇴🇺🇦 I’m Norwegian, you better believe the @Olympics have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, especially the Winter Olympics.
Here on X, I’m rarely personal. I both assume, and hope, that most people who follow me now and from the most recent years, do so because they seek news and updates about Ukraine, and not about me — who I am or what I do.
So this post is probably more personal than usual. But today it feels painfully relevant.
During the last Summer Olympics (2024), I was part of the main reporting team for our national coverage. I was the lead correspondent for our “home team,” doing daily live reports from various locations and hometowns of our athletes.
Not a single day went by without me visibly wearing and showing my support for Ukraine. Be it a pin of the blue and yellow, my trident bracelet or my Ukraine necklace. Mostly, it was all of them at the same time.
It was visible in my EVERY SINGLE SEGMENT!
NO ONE from our production team or audience objected to this!
NOT A SINGLE PERSON questioned it as political or odd to wear the colors and/or a flag of another nation!
On the contrary, It was acknowledged as an honorable, and more than anything: an appropriate gesture.
I can’t even count the amount of times I was asked questions about my work in Ukraine and the reality of life there. It stated conversations, to me it was the bare minimum, but it ended up being part of the ground from where understanding and support grew from. And to me, that’s the biggest achievement.
The winter Olympic is (for many reasons) even more exciting to be part of and to even watch, for us Norwegians. But right now, I feel more distant from it than ever.
Not only have they forced Ukrainian athletes to stand face to face with the same people who is stealing their land and killing their people,
(And I don’t care if they’ve asked these “neutral” athletes if they; “support the war or not”? Did they ask them what they have done to oppose it? No!
Is there even a “neutral” answer to whether a genocide against another nation is right or wrong!? No!
So there is that.
There is no “neutral” in this war, And silence is only another weapon that benefits the aggressor.)
But when hearing the IOC claim, that signs of remembrance and memorial is political, that’s where the “unity of sport” ends for me!
This ban of @heraskevych has made me feel so disgusted about this entire organization and event, that I truly can’t even watch it.
I’m always exited for my fellow Norwegians and their incredible achievements, but they don’t need an organization or a worldwide event for me to feel that way about them. No athletes does. Neither does a celebrity or a politician.
Beyond talent and dedication, at the end of the day, what matters is what you stand for! Not numbers, money, popularity or rankings, but your level of empathy, care and respect for others.
That’s not political. It’s basic humanity.
And it should always be at the very center of what unites us.
Like gatherings & competitions, sports & the Olympics.
This is where we come together, and if one competitor cheats, steals and kill another, the judge should never tell an opponent it’s a violation to pay tribute to the victims or call out the wrongdoings.
When we should understand by now, that the real violation is letting the criminals back in and ignoring every bit of foul play they have ever done to others.
Wear the blue and yellow, say their names. Talks about Ukraine. Call out russia and show their many war crimes to the world!
Your one voice don’t need a massive international stage to be heard, we can all create this echo together!
You don’t need an audience, because WE ARE the audience.
We set the tone for this show!
Being a European today basically means having a pretty excellent day until around 5 pm when the White House starts posting the dumbest shit you've ever had the misfortune to read.
Every. Damn. Day.
What is happening in Iran now – large-scale protests, effectively an uprising – is a clear sign that things won’t get easier for Russia.
And every decent person on this planet truly wants the people of Iran to finally free themselves from the current regime that has brought so much evil to Ukraine and to other countries.
It is crucial that the world does not miss this moment when changes are possible. Every leader, every country, and international organizations must step in now and help the people remove those guilty of what Iran has sadly become.
Everything can be different.
The Western liberal media is ignoring the Iranian uprising because explaining it would force an admission it is desperate to avoid: the Iranian people are rebelling against Islam itself, and that fact shatters the moral framework through which these institutions understand the world.
Ideally, to cover an uprising is not just to show crowds and slogans. It requires answering a basic question: why are people risking death? In Iran, the answer is simple and unavoidable. The people are rising up because the Islamic Republic of Iran has spent decades suffocating every aspect of life—speech, work, family, art, women, and economic survival—under a clerical system that treats liberty as a crime. There is no way to tell that story without confronting the nature of the regime.
Western media refuses to do so because it has fundamentally misunderstood Islam. Or worse, it has chosen not to understand it.
Islam, in Western progressive discourse, has been racialized. It is treated not as a belief system or a political ideology, but as a stand-in for race or ethnicity. Criticizing Islam is framed as an attack on “brown people,” Arabs, or “the Middle East,” as if Islam were a skin color rather than a doctrine.
This confusion is rooted in historical illiteracy. Western liberal media routinely collapses entire civilizations into a single stereotype: “all Middle Easterners are Arabs,” “all Arabs are Muslim,” and “all Muslims are a monolithic, oppressed identity group by white European colonizers.” Iranians disappear entirely in this framework. Their language, history, and culture—Persian, not Arab; ancient, not colonial; distinct, not interchangeable—are erased.
By treating Islam as a racial identity rather than an ideology, Western media strips millions of people of their ability to reject it. Iranian protesters become unintelligible. Their rebellion cannot be processed without breaking the rule that Islam must not be criticized. So instead of listening to Iranians, the media speaks over them—or ignores them entirely.
There is another reason the Iranian uprising is so threatening to Western media is economic issues.
As you know, Iran is not only a religious dictatorship. It is a centrally controlled, state-dominated economy where markets are strangled, private enterprise is criminalized or co-opted, and economic survival depends on proximity to political power. Decades of price controls, subsidies, nationalization, and bureaucratic micromanagement have obliterated the middle class and entrenched corruption as the only functional system. The result is not equality or justice. It is poverty, stagnation, and dependence on government’s dark void of empty promises.
Covering Iran honestly would require acknowledging that these policies are harmful. They have been tried. They have failed. Catastrophically.
This is deeply inconvenient for Western media institutions that routinely promote expansive state control, centralized economic planning, and technocratic governance as morally enlightened alternatives to liberal capitalism. Iran demonstrates where such systems lead when insulated from accountability and enforced by ideology. It shows that when the state controls livelihoods, non-conformity becomes existentially dangerous. That lesson cannot be acknowledged without undermining the moral authority of those who advocate similar ideas in softer language.
Western liberal media prefers not to hear this. Acknowledging it would require abandoning the lazy moral categories that dominate modern discourse: oppressor and oppressed, colonizer and colonized, white and non-white. Iranian protesters do not fit. They show that authoritarianism is not a Western invention imposed from outside, but something many societies are actively trying to escape.
That is what terrifies Western liberal media. And that is why the Iranian people are being ignored.
So the silence continues.
Statement by the Premier of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen:
January 4, 2026
“🇬🇱 Let me state this calmly and clearly from the outset: there is neither reason for panic nor for concern.
The image shared by Katie Miller, depicting Greenland wrapped in an American flag, changes nothing whatsoever. Our country is not for sale, and our future is not decided by social media posts.
That said, the image is disrespectful.
Relations between nations and peoples are built on mutual respect and international law — not on symbolic gestures that disregard our status and our rights.
We are a democratic society with self-government, free elections, and strong institutions. Our position is firmly grounded in international law and in internationally recognized agreements. This is not in question.
Naalakkersuisut (Government of Greenland) continues its work calmly and responsibly. We engage in dialogue, safeguard our interests, and uphold the international rules that also bind our partners.
There is no reason for panic.
But there is every reason to speak out against a lack of respect. 🇬🇱”
Enough with the "he's on the side of peace" garbage and the weasel words about Trump's "opinions" on social media. He's the president and is reciting Kremlin propaganda on live TV. Are there any Republicans still loyal to their oaths instead of to this traitor?
I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT SOMETHING TO EVERYONE IN AMERICA TODAY, YOU HAVE A FUCKING HUGE COLOSSAL PROBLEM 🤷 YOU EITHER ALLOW THE CORRUPT PEDO TO DEMOLISH YOUR COUNTRY OR YOU RISE UP AND STOP THIS MADNESS 🤷

On Ukraine’s Armed Forces Day, I witnessed a deeply moving moment.
Swedish Supreme Commander Gen. @swe_chod went down on a knee to hear 🇺🇦soldier Ihor Hrabchak in a wheelchair. Ihor tried to stop him, but the General said: At heart, I’m a simple soldier. It’s an honour to listen.
My proposed conditions if Russia fails to agree to Ukrainian/European peace plan.
1. Russia is offered an ultimatum, it has 14 days from the date of refusal of the peace plan to remove all troops within Ukraine. Failure to comply will result in Ukrainian allies moving into Ukraine to seek the destruction of Russian assets on the ground. Land, Sea and Air.
2. Following 14 days of the coalition of the willing intervention within Ukraine, further failure to remove Russian troops from Ukraine by the 4th week will result in the bombing of assets, supply routes, command post, ammo depots, training grounds, oil depot and refineries, any assets related to the Russian war machine within the territory of Russia will be considered a target of western air strikes and cyber warfare and subsequently abruptly destroyed.
3. Failure to issue a complete surrender by week 5, a full invasion of Russian territory by western and Ukrainian forces will commence. All territory’s taken will be considered a new NATO buffer zone against future Russian aggression.
4. It will be made clear that any sign, gearing up or repositioning of nuclear weapons will be met with preemptive strikes to neutralize threats, nuclear if its must. Moscow and St Petersburg with hit immediately if nuclear weapons are prepared for launch.
5. Any Russian retaliation in the territories of Ukrainian allied nations during the period before surrender will be met with immediate consequences and strategic consequences.
6. Failure to surrender by week 8, a Demilitarization disarmament agreement will be put in place to stop Russian from forming an army for the next 60 years.
It’s time to stop playing games and deal with Russia accordingly. It wants to play silly games. It’s time to give Russia silly prizes.
Russia have fucked with the wrong ones for too long.
The Trump administration's corruption has extended to selling out Ukraine—and America's interests—to Russia so that the Trump family and their friends can make a few bucks.
Must-read reporting from the @WSJ this weekend. https://t.co/Gty8aSDADw
I wish to remind our allies that NATO was created to defend the West against the Soviet aggression, that is against Russia. And its foundation was solidarity, not egoistic interests. I hope that nothing has changed.
Hi @anneapplebaum we have an peace plan:
A plan for unconditional surrender of Russia.
From a Swedish guy Peter PC Carlsson. This is how it should be.
The EU and Ukraine have secretly negotiated a 10-point peace agreement that Russia must now sign within 10 days, or the EU and the US will send all the weapons Ukraine requests.
1. Ukraine will regain all occupied territory, including Crimea. Russia must cede a one-mile buffer zone along the border with Ukraine and cede additional territory as war reparations.
2. Ukraine is offered military security guarantees from NATO and its forces will be immediately deployed around and in Ukraine.
3. Russia's military will be limited to a maximum of 300,000 soldiers under international supervision.
4. Ukraine will be given the full right to join NATO and receive permanent NATO bases and military support from the EU and the US.
5. All frozen Russian assets will be seized and used exclusively for the reconstruction of Ukraine, under the control of the EU and Ukraine. Furthermore, war reparations will be paid by Russia for all destroyed civilian property and infrastructure.
6. Ukraine is given a fast track to EU membership, including strong military and economic support from the EU and the US.
7. Russian war crimes must be investigated by international courts and those responsible brought to justice and sentenced.
8. Free, internationally monitored elections must be held in Russia to ensure democracy and accountability.
9. An international commission led by the EU and Ukraine will monitor humanitarian issues, prisoner exchanges and family reunification.
10. A legal peace body with the EU and Ukraine will ensure compliance with the agreement and activate sanctions and military support in case of Russian violation.
This plan calls for Russian withdrawal, limited military force, accountability for war crimes and democratic reforms, while Ukraine receives powerful security guarantees and integration opportunities with the EU and the US.
