Planetary deadlines are coming.
We shouldn't really be surprised about the record-breaking heatwaves.
This was forecast decades ago, but the main parties didn't listen and didn't act..
@Ed_Miliband@ClimatePsychol#ClimateEmergency
Imagine if they spent £22 billion on restoring peat bogs, the oceans, forests (proven carbon capture), or on public transport, insulation, solar – literally anything but this, which is just playing into the hands of the fossil fuel bros and delaying the transition to green energy
According to #Copernicus, Sunday 21st July 2024 was the hottest day ever recorded globally in 100,000 years—and yet I still have trolls telling me that because they are having a cloudy summer in the #UK, global warming doesn't exist. It does - and it's accelerating. #climate
The oil & gas industry produce 18Bn barrels of briney waste water. It contains heavy metals, radioactive elements & a range of dangerous chemicals. https://t.co/vPgjeXhulf In the US, this is 'injected' into porus rock 'wells'. The problem is deeply alarming with huge environmental & human health impacts.
Lord Turner, Chair of the Energy Transmissions Commission challenges the nuclear myth. He has said, that it is important to keep current nuclear stations running. But, nuclear is just too expensive to be useful in a #NetZero industrial revolution. And, it is too inflexible to mix well with #RenewableEnergy.
🔵Reform won four seats.
🟢The Greens won four seats.
This graphic shows the four Reform seats. The four Green seats are lumped in with ‘other’.
It has begun. There will be more. Call it out when you see it.
Give the Greens the platform they have earned.
@MsJones_14@EdmundGemmell@theclimateparty We have collected almost all our Eds as we will be reusing them. We have a few in private gardens still to collect. The ones littering will be ones that have been taken/stolen & left somewhere. If you see any please let us know where they are & we will arrange collection. Thanks
Highlights from last night...
From Wycombe. One of @SBakerWatch was at the count last night when climate denier MP Steve Baker found out he would no longer be an MP.
Steve Baker Watch is glad to report it now has an MP who IS engaging with them on climate.

‘Best kept village’ smells so bad it has had to pull out of the competition
‘Unbearable’ smell from raw sewage in river rules Chalfont St Giles out of this year’s contest.”

2/ For those who haven't heard of the NZSG before, they are a group of mainly backbench Conservative MPs sceptical of the UK's climate targets, who over the past few years have launched a campaign attempting to derail the UK’s green agenda.

One thing I'm particularly looking forward to on #GE2024 election night is checking off the members of the #NetZero Scrutiny Group who lose their seats.
We have a real opportunity to disrupt the parliamentary arm of UK climate sceptics.
Here's how you can help me
Just in case anyone thinks the Steve Baker MP (Wycombe, Cons), #ClimateCrisis denier is actually campaigning on behalf of Wycombe schools, here is testimony to his self-serving side...
Rather massive round of applause to everyone at @GoodLawProject. Their intervention proved to be pivotal in providing yet again that WCs are liable and they simply cannot dump sewage no matter what they say or think. 👏👏👏
And the @EnvAgency did what exactly?
