🇯🇵🇰🇷🇺🇸 Most of us in Japan never knew much about the Korean-American community.
However, recently I learnt about the Rooftop Koreans defending their businesses in the 1992 LA Riots and I was very impressed.
These are examples of the type of immigrants every country needs.

More Japanese hostility towards Chinese is coming because China is actually wealthy now and unlike Japan, has independence. It’s a type of subconscious lack of esteem.

The Natsu Basho 2026 approaches with high stakes as Ozeki Aonishiki fights to defend his rank while Midorifuji makes a hopeful return from health struggles. All eyes are also on the fan-favorite Enho, who finally re-enters the sekitori ranks with a fresh resolve and a new white mawashi.

Ozeki Aonishiki enters the Natsu Basho facing his first kadoban (demotion-threatened) status. After falling short of a third consecutive title in the Spring tournament with a 7-8 record, he was forced to withdraw midway through the Spring tour due to a fractured pinky toe on his left foot. While he has not yet resumed full contact training, he emphasized that his recovery is on track.
Regarding his current condition, he explained: "I’ve been able to receive proper treatment, so things are improving little by little. I’ve been heading down to the training hall periodically to make adjustments, and I want to do my best to be ready to compete." Despite the shock of the fracture during the tour, he remains focused: "I’m not discouraged at all. I just have to look forward and learn from this experience." He also expressed his intention to participate in the upcoming Keiko Soken (training exhibition) before the Yokozuna Deliberation Council on May 1st.
With Kirishima returning to the Ozeki rank after his Spring victory, the Natsu Basho will feature three Ozeki. "What I need to do remains the same," Aonishiki noted, adding confidently, "But from the fans' perspective, it should make the tournament much more interesting." He is now preparing for a comeback performance.

Juryo #10 Midorifuji, who missed both the Spring tournament and the regional tour due to heart failure, attended the Rikishi-kai (Wrestlers' Association meeting) at the Ryogoku Kokugikan on the 28th. When asked about his participation in the Natsu Basho, he signaled a positive return to the ring, stating, "I’m going to compete." At one point during his illness, his weight reportedly dropped by approximately 10kg.
"The heart itself wasn't in bad shape; the cause was excessive drinking and high blood pressure," he explained. He is continuing medication and maintaining a low-sodium diet. On the 28th, he resumed full training at the Isegahama stable. After four bouts against other sekitori, he remarked, "It was a total defeat. I’ll raise my level gradually."

Juryo #14 Enho returns to the sekitori ranks for the first time in 18 tournaments.
Attending his first Rikishi-kai in three years, he looked deeply moved, saying, "It feels nostalgic. The faces are completely different now, so I’m a bit nervous." He admitted that seeing his name back on the new banzuke brought him to tears, and he shared the news over the phone with his former mentor, the former Yokozuna Hakuho.
On this day, he donned his newly made white mawashi for training sessions at the stable. "I threw away the black one," he said with grim determination, signaling his resolve. Regarding his goals for his comeback tournament, he stated, "My top priority is simply to be on that dohyo for all 15 days."
