As the pioneer chairman of @officialEFCC, Nuhu Ribadu painted a picture that he detest corruption, like he can't even stand for a second next to a corrupt person, that he was ready to die fighting corruption in Nigeria. And majority of Nigerians including myself believed him. But today, with what I am seeing, when I look back, I realize all that was not true at afterall.

On one faithful day of July 2004, that was six years after Abacha's death, Ribadu stationed his men and @PoliceNG officers at an airfield somewhere in Northeast Nigeria. What were they doing? They were waiting for one very crooked Lebanese businessman, named Gilbert Chagoury. A very close friend and one time adviser of Gen. Sani Abacha. Chagoury was coming into the country and his private jet was to land at that airfield. The plan was to arrest and charge him for corruption.

According to Ribadu in an interview in California prior, Chagoury was the kingpin of the corruption that defined the Abacha's regime. In his words, "you couldn't investigate corruption without looking at Chagoury." He said it was Chagoury who made it possible for Abacha to steal billions of dollars of Nigeria's money and lined his own pockets in the process.

According to Philepe Vasset, former editor of African Energy Intelligence, Chagoury was one of the last of all-powerful middlemen who served heads of oil-rich African countries. According to him, "He (Chagoury) was the gate keeper to Abacha's presidency." Under the Abacha era, Chagoury held the key to Nigerias oil weath, and Oga Nuhu knows this.

But on that faithful July day, Chagoury's jet took off from the airfield not sooner than it touched down. Chagoury escaped arrest. Ribadu later said it is possible Chagoury was tipped off by an airport staff.

Also, on Wednesday September 27, 2006, sitting before a plenary of the Senate, Mallam Ribadu told senators about corruption in high places in Nigeria, and how his Commission was investigating some against state governors and their officials. He said the EFCC has received petitions from Cross Rivers, Kogi, and Gombe. He said government officials in Benue barged into the states commissioner of police office and beat up EFCC operatives and confisticated documents relating to investigations.

Mallam Ribadu told the Senator Ken Nnamani's led Senate about the state's where Government officials and local government Chairmen were under investigations. He listed about 31 states. He also listed states where governors were being investigated, they included Rivers, Plateau, Lagos, Jigawa, Nassarawa, Imo, Delta, Ogun, Borno and Benue. According to Ribadu, all the implicated governors except Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos state, were alleged to have perpetrated the offenses by misappropriating local government funds. He told Nnamani in his own words, "Mr President, Tinubu’s case (corruption) was of INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION."

I actually almost fainted recently when I heard Mallam Ribadu denying ever accusing Tinubu of corruption and asking Hajia Naja'tu Mohammed for retraction of her statement and public apology within seven days, calling the allegation false and malicious. How in God's name can someone deny something that he said on LIVE TV that Nigerians including myself watched because I was visiting Nigeria at the time? As in how? Jesus Christus.

In 2011, Ribadu ran for president under Tinubu’s ACN, a party formed and funded with proceeds of that 'CORRUPTION OF INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION' he once alleged. Today, that same Tinubu is President of Nigeria, and he is National Security Adviser (NSA). Today, Tinubu has awarded Chagoury, the gate keeper of Abacha's regime GCON, but our darling Mallam is observing TABLE MANNERS.
