The year I joined high school my mother builds a house from scratch. In 6 years,AA administration demolish it for road construction. Also demolished her shop in 4kilo to handover for investors & still today the space is vacant. This story is my family’s story.Thank u for sharing
This video from four years ago has stayed with me, of Rep. John Lewis as he started crying as he accepted The National Book Award, when he had been denied entry to libraries as a child. “This is too much,” he said, overwhelmed.
After seeing that Trump Admin telling hospitals to stop sending data on Covid to CDC and instead send it to Trump acolytes at HHS, I remembered: Everyone should watch that great HBO limited series, "Chernobyl." Because, you know, we're living it now. With Trump Admin as Soviets.
Some enlightment comes late, really really late. Waaa....y after you helped edit the Medemer book, facilitated focus group discussion titled Medemer as an African philosophy and wrote a letter recommending Abiy for the Nobel Peace Prize
June 29, 2020 OMN LIVE from MN: quotes from a lady named Bonsa:
- "We have to lock their houses & burn them."
- "If they block roads to Addis, Menzes in Negele Arsi have no place to go; they have to be finished."
- "block the roads & not 1, 2 but in 100s, Habeshas must die."
Following such call, for example only in Shasemene, Haile resort, Lucy academy, Sheger building, Abay hotel, Meridian building, Careyehun, Kefyalew International hotel, Mara building etc were burned down according to @VOAAmharic report https://t.co/Ycj1dgnxmx
Thread:
A lot has happened in #Ethiopia since the killing of superstar #HaacaaluuHundeessaa. One of the fuel for tragic developments in the last few days has been various broadcasts of OMN (@OromiaMedia) in which people call for ethnic violence in the country.
Some examples:
"Ethiopian Trumps with your "there are some bad people on both sides", please don't embarrass yourselves. You see a pogrom in broad daylight, you unequivocally denounce it. It doesn't take a genius to know that your false equivalences are a subtle way of justifying the violence!"
VOA has reported mobs have rampaged some parts of Oromia targeting minority families & business in the region. Many here see this as the inevitable result of extreme views broadcasted via OMN over the last few days. Read the following thread for more context.
This woman (she lives in the US & called for exterminating Amharas in Oromia)doesn't probably know that advocating to destroy an ethnic group is punishable by law in the US. Whoever decided to broadcast these vile contents must be held accountable.
“Had the NFL continued to support [Colin] Kaepernick all along, the league would be remembered in this moment as a true beacon of progress, rather than a bunch of shameless hypocrites,” @JemeleHill writes. https://t.co/0RLZlJa6Ok

@mahad_minhas@medicalaxioms As MS3 I did rural Medicine in Missouri. When I walked in I was greeted with “ohhh you are black”. The whole month attending has to go in and ask if the patients would feel comfortable with me seeing them. I only saw 1-2 patients a day in a full clinic as everyone else refused.

"It is a lynching at the highest level. No one can deny that," Dr. @CornelWest tells @andersoncooper of the death of George Floyd. "I thank God that we have people in the streets."
"Could you imagine this kind of lynching taking place and people were indifferent?" he asks.
