Several consecutive explosions were heard in Kyiv around 3 a.m. local time on Aug. 27, according to Kyiv Independent journalists on the ground.

⬛ SOME UKRAINIAN CHILDREN HAVE NEVER KNOWN LIFE WITHOUT WAR

Russia’s war against Ukraine began in 2014. Its full-scale invasion has now continued for more than four years. Children born beneath the first nationwide barrages are already old enough to speak, learn and remember—yet they have never experienced a country without air-raid sirens.

A child should worry about school, friendships, scraped knees and tomorrow’s game—not bomb shelters, missing relatives or whether everyone they love will return home.

This little girl may not yet understand the full meaning of the ceremony around her. But across Ukraine, children recognize the sound of drones, know where the safest room is and understand that an alarm means running underground. Some wait for parents serving at the front. Others have lost homes, schools or family members.

They continue learning, playing and dreaming because Ukraine continues living. Their resilience inspires us, but it should also shame a world that has allowed an entire generation to grow up beneath Russian bombs.

Ukraine’s children deserve more than praise for their courage. They deserve the safe and free childhood Russia has tried to steal from them.

🟧 UKRAINIAN GROUND ROBOT TURNS RUSSIAN BUNKER INTO A TRAP

A Ukrainian kamikaze ground robotic system drove directly to a Russian bunker before detonating an explosive charge above the position, producing a massive blast.

One Russian soldier appeared to survive the initial explosion, but the bunker collapsed around him and every exit was blocked. The footage shows only his hand reaching desperately through a narrow opening. The shelter intended to protect him had become his grave.

By the time he apparently attempted to signal from beneath the wreckage, it was already too late. His fatal mistake was waiting until after the Ukrainian machine reached the bunker to consider surrender.

This is the life-saving work of Ukraine’s ground robotic systems. They can cross exposed terrain, approach fortified trench lines and carry powerful charges directly into enemy positions—performing missions that would otherwise place Ukrainian assault troops in extreme danger.

The machine may be sacrificed during the attack. The Ukrainian warrior controlling it returns alive.

🟪 RUSSIAN SELLERS WERE LEFT TO GO DOWN WITH THE WILDBERRIES SHIP

As Ukrainian drones closed in on Wildberries warehouses, Russian sellers reportedly discovered they could not simply rescue their merchandise.

Owners were not permitted to retrieve goods personally. Their only available route was requesting a return through a pickup point—but sellers across multiple regions repeatedly received the same message: “Pickup point overloaded.” Changing locations, cities or quantities reportedly made no difference.

Wildberries never announced an official withdrawal ban. In practice, however, many sellers were left watching the skies and hoping the next warehouse carrying their livelihoods would not burn.

The company had also amended its seller agreement to limit liability for inventory destroyed by drone attacks. Some affected businesses later reported receiving only partial compensation.

Russia’s largest online marketplace appears to be going down with the Russian economic ship. Unfortunately for its sellers, the captain changed the insurance terms before the smoke appeared—and apparently locked the lifeboats.

🟧 UNKNOWN CRUISE MISSILES STRIKE OCCUPIED DONETSK

Multiple explosions have been reported in occupied Donetsk after unidentified cruise missiles reached the city.

Initial footage shows a building struck near the Donetsk City shopping complex. Dnipro OSINT identifies the incoming weapons as possible cruise missiles, but their type, launch platform and intended target have not yet been confirmed.

🟩 KELLOGG: TRUMP REFUSED TO FORCE UKRAINE TO SURRENDER DONBAS

Former U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg says Vladimir Putin expected Donald Trump to pressure President Zelenskyy into voluntarily surrendering the remaining Ukrainian-held territory in Donetsk region.

According to Kellogg, that pressure never came. He characterized Trump’s message to Moscow as: “If you want this land, fight for it.”

It matters that Trump did not order Ukraine to surrender—but let us be clear: he apparently did not tell Putin to abandon his illegal conquest either. “Fight for it” leaves Ukrainian soldiers and civilians paying in blood for land Russia has no lawful claim to take.

Kellogg says Trump exhausted the available diplomatic tools, yet diplomacy that merely refuses to reward aggression is only the minimum. The stronger message should be unmistakable: Donbas belongs to Ukraine, Russia must withdraw, and the aggressor—not its victim—must be pressured until the war ends.

Ukraine is grateful it was not pushed to capitulate. But after years of invasion and mass civilian suffering, Ukrainians are entitled to expect more than permission to keep fighting alone.

🟧 ANDRII BILETSKYI RECEIVES THE GOLD STAR OF A HERO OF UKRAINE

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Andrii Biletskyi with the Gold Star of the Hero of Ukraine, recognizing a combat path spanning every stage of Russia’s war.

Biletskyi founded and became the first commander of the Azov Regiment, commanding the liberation of Mariupol from Russian-backed forces in 2014. He later led operations around Shyrokyne and other settlements in the Donetsk region.

When the full-scale invasion began, he returned to active service, participated in the defense of the Kyiv region and helped organize an attempted operation to break Russia’s siege of Mariupol. He subsequently founded the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade and commanded Tactical Group “A” during the battle for Bakhmut.

The force he built went on to fight around Avdiivka, where it helped secure the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops, before conducting operations in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions. Since March 2025, Biletskyi has commanded the 3rd Army Corps.

From liberating Mariupol in 2014 to commanding one of Ukraine’s most formidable formations today, Biletskyi has spent more than a decade wherever the country needed soldiers, builders and commanders most.

Ukraine does not create its heroes during ceremonies. It recognizes those already forged on the battlefield.
