#kinderchat thank you so much for this! It really is awesome to hear from teachers who want to help future teachers! I love that you mentioned that we need to stick to our beliefs. There's a lot of controversy in education today. https://t.co/rPlxaHTgQn
A4: Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I love learning from others, one reason I want to become a teacher. I love hearing all different viewpoints! https://t.co/iPPs8jhxt8
Q4: I see we have many pre-service teachers here. Before we close, what advice would you give them about starting outdoor learning with their students in their practicum and in their classrooms? #kinderchat
A3: When I was in elementary school, we had days where we would go out and do activities geared towards Native American Culture. We also took field trips to places that also had strong Native American backgrounds. #Kinderchat https://t.co/S2DFFyg7si
Q3: I don't know if this a BC thing, but I was wondering if anyone uses your outdoor learning time to explore indigenous culture/history? And how? #kinderchat
A2: I know a lot of play grounds have "abacus" like components. I played with those a lot when I was a kid, and I saw that last semester during my service learning experiences! https://t.co/Pt7gW9hQso
#kinderchat since I’m in college I don’t have my own classroom but I have done service learning where they had a play ground that we would use pretty often! https://t.co/TGRIY3zqeo
Q1: Do you have an outdoor space to take your students and how often do you use it? (There is NO judgement here. I am just curious what people have to work with)
#kinderchat
@EducShelbyJ Nope--I am the only one! The year we did have two sections, it was the other teacher's first year and I was her mentor so yes, we collaborated a lot on everything!
@EducShelbyJ Not really between high school and elementary---well I guess the one would be that all kids want their voice heard. Get to know them and let them know you truely care. Also, remember that you will sometimes be the blame for things you have no control over-don't take it personal
The hardest part for me what switching from high school to elementary--not to mention I was going to have my own son! It was a mindset of mine that I had to get over---I wasn't sure I could do a large group. #thetitleonechat
@TamyraWarnke#thetitleonechat Wow! What has been the most difficult/easiest part about transitioning from life skills/special education to a elementary school classroom? I have experience of my own being in a life skills class, tough work--but so rewarding when my peers were able to succeed!
#educw200chat A2: I love the PhET interactive simulations! I used them in high school and it was a great way to see how things work. I think it would be really fun and engaging for the students who use this program.
#educw200chat A1: I think technology is a very valuable part of education today. It helps kids explore new territories and allows them to get a head start in the world of computers. It also is a great way to boost creativity within the classroom!
