No. Africa is uniquely diverse unlike the rest of the world, thus making ethnocentrism detrimental to African progress. Only African people can solve their own problems. It’s not about having a super big homogeneous African state. It’s about building Pan African institutions. It’s about the free movement of goods & people across Africa & consolidation of African resources & human capital for the advancement of African people. Let me give you an example. Namibia imports the majority of its oil from the UAE, meanwhile its next door neighbor Angola is the second biggest producer of oil in Africa. Nigeria imports majority of its rice from China & its next door neighbor Benin is one of the biggest rice producers in Africa. Southern African countries had to first fly to Dubai to catch a connecting flight to Morocco for the AFCON because they don’t have direct flights😂. Africans do shit like this & then whine when we point out that national borders are an impediment to African progress.

Here is the uncomfortable point: framing safeguarding compliance as suspicious creates perverse incentives. If refusal equals public suspicion, the pressure shifts toward unsafe access decisions.

That is not a trade-off anyone should want.
