@Mr_Oldfield My understanding is yes, basically. Outside of Google, the other LLMs just aren't as available (or good). For all of the recent pop-ups, I'd put money on OpenAI.
@Mr_Oldfield@john_carper3 @EmAre459 @shelbywglover It comes down to the types of prompts we want students to respond to. Multiple choice is great for recall, etc., but it lacks contextuality. In every subject area, students need to write and explain. I'd file these tools under time savers for emergencies or newbies for now.

I didn't necessarily intend to write a negative post about teaching. I don't want to think of it as negative -- I'm concerned. I'm hopeful! But, sometimes, the profession gets in the way.
@Mr_Oldfield Yeah, I have always really digged their perspective. I just hope some of these changes serve as a catalyst to really examine what education *is* in America. There's just no political will to confront these issues; we're too mired in banning books still. π
