⚠️Individuals taking NSAID's at the acute stage of back pain are 1.7x more likely to develop persistent pain that lasts for several years!💊https://t.co/IM5yLU0m2r
Most of us were taught that pain is a simple message from the body to the brain.
⚡ Injury → Nerves → Brain → Pain.
But neuroscience tells a different story.
🧠 I broke the study down hereresults, mechanisms, and what it means for pain treatment:

💡 Chronic pain relief isn't always about stronger meds.
A 2013 RCT found that magnesium—yes, magnesium—reduced neuropathic low back pain by 37% over 6 months.
Let’s unpack the science 🧵👇
So is magnesium a magic fix?
❌ No.
But this study adds to growing evidence that smart neuromodulation > brute-force analgesia.
Magnesium may be an overlooked adjunct, especially in central pain states.
"Why didn’t my doctor tell me the mind was involved?"
That question stuck with me at the SIRPA 15th Anniversary Conference—where stress, pain & brain science took centre stage. 🧠🔥

🎬 Overthinking mindfulness? That’s the problem.
In my latest blog, I break down:

So why do some people hurt while others don’t? 🤔
💡 Pain is more than structure
🔗 Read the full blog post to learn why MRI findings aren’t the whole story & what really matters:

🚨 Your MRI might be misleading you 🚨
Got a scan that says ‘bulging disc’ or ‘degenerative disc disease’? Don’t panic—these changes are normal with age & don’t always cause pain. 🧵👇
🔬 A 2014 study by @wbrinjikji 𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘭. found pain-free people with MRI changes:
✅ 30% of 20-year-olds had disc degeneration.
✅ 50% of 40-year-olds had disc bulges.
✅ 96% of 80-year-olds had disc changes
Most people take paracetamol wrong—and then wonder why it doesn’t work. 😬
It reaches full effectiveness after 4-5 doses, but many give up too soon. This can lead to unnecessary use of stronger painkillers with more side effects.
Here’s how to take it properly 🧵👇
✅ 1g every 4-6 hours
✅ Continue for at least 24 hours
✅ Do not exceed 4g (8x500mg tablets) every 24 hours
Stopping too soon = missing out on its full effect.
