In 2022, FIFA banned Russia from the World Cup. No appeal. No negotiation. Russia invaded Ukraine — and the punishment was immediate and total. Banned from international football. Removed from competitions. Frozen out completely.
The world applauded. Rules are rules. Aggression has consequences. Sport cannot be separated from human rights. That was the message. Loud and clear.
Now fast forward to 2026.
The United States — a nation currently funding and arming military operations that have killed tens of thousands of civilians — is not just participating in the World Cup. They are HOSTING it. On their soil. With their flag at the front. Selling tickets. Running security. Controlling who gets in and who doesn't.
A Somali referee was denied entry. Iranian fans locked out. Visitors are treated like criminals at the gate. And FIFA has said absolutely nothing.
So the question the whole world is asking — and nobody in power wants to answer — is simple:
What is the difference between Russia in 2022 and America in 2026?
Because from where we are standing — the only difference is which flag is flying. Russia was punished because the West demanded it. America is protected because the West IS it. One set of rules for the powerful. Another set for everyone else.
This is the most controversial World Cup in history. And it hasn't even started.
In my personal opinion — history will not be kind to FIFA for this. You cannot ban one nation for aggression and hand the microphone to another. You cannot preach inclusion and deny referees entry. You cannot call it the world's game and then sort people by passport at the door.
The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.
