Defining Ellipsea Argoplegades A.K.A Egg Galaxy

1. [The Elliptical Galaxy] "Ellipsea" is derived from "elliptical," reflecting the motion of the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy as they collide in 4 billion years and lose their original disc formations. This term also echoes the elliptical form of a dove's egg, embodying a sea of stars that flows into shape. 2. [From Myth to Cosmos: The Dance of Argoplegades] "Argoplegades" captures the epic voyage of the Argo through the Symplegades, or Clashing Rocks, depicted in The Argonautica by Apollonius Rhodius, and parallels it with the celestial dance between the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy. The myth recounts the Argo's only path to Colchis as one fraught with danger, where two massive rocks that clashed repeatedly threatened to crush the ship. Yet, guided by the successful passage of a dove, which lost its tail feathers to the rocks, Jason and his crew braved the passage and navigated through, transforming the perilous rocks into a permanent safe passage for future travelers. This mythic overcoming mirrors the cosmic event where the Milky Way and Andromeda, each with a central supermassive black hole, draw near in a destined merger. Their central black holes, through dynamical friction, engage in a tightening spiral dance, reminiscent of the clashing rocks. This process propels stars into wider orbits and brings the black holes closer, eventually merging like the stilling of the Symplegades. 3. [Steering the Future: The Path Through AI's Symplegades] Argoplegades also represents the steering of humanity's collective will through the medium of AI alignment, ensuring AI technology becomes a vessel for transcendence rather than a cause of our downfall: Constructed by Argus under the divine guidance of Athena and the protection of Hera, the legendary ship Argo, imbued with sentience from Dodonian oak, could communicate directly with its crew, the Argonauts. This capacity was evident when it advised them of the need for purification after the slaying of Apsyrtus, showcasing its ability to provide moral guidance. This narrative frames man-made technology as a potential guide towards ethical enlightenment. However, the story also warns of the consequences of neglecting the oversight of such technology, as illustrated by Jason's tragic end due to the Argo's deterioration. This event serves as a pivotal crossroad, presenting two futures: one where humanity perishes due to its creations, and another where humanity and technology merge into a path of alignment, evolving beyond our biological form and symbolized by Jason and the Argo's transcendence to the cosmos as the constellation Argo Navis. This duality of technology's promise and peril is embodied in the latter half of the word "plegades," presenting a modern-day Clashing Rocks scenario of ceaseless AI technological progress and the looming specter of AI weaponization, where AI's boundless potential risks humanity being ensnared in a cyclical and eternal arms race, where the lines of AI safety and governance remain undefined, nations, companies, miles to eventually lightyears apart, and the symbolic dove of guidance has yet to emerge, leaving us to question and navigate the contours of an embryonic idea and find our collective calling: to gather, to speak, and be heard around the dove egg. >Anon *Phineus* 2/24/2024
