And explaining it to them just doesn't work. They just don't get it. People tell me they use AI all the time to help them write an email... And I try to explain, that its so much more than that. I say it can do stuff now like really well..
The reason softwares developers are so blown away by AI is because it can do our job better and faster. Huge impact, we get it!
When the AI powered robots come and can build an entire house in 24 hrs, then the construction worker will get it.
When the robots run restaurants and cook the food perfect each time, at the highest quality, then the chefs will understand.
When robots show up and run into a burning building and save an entire family, then the firefighters will understand as well.
People don't get it yet because they can not see what is coming as clearly as software developers can. Because we have been impacted. And what we see has far exceeded our expectations.
@thesupermanmx Most of the time you just let the AI do its thing. But there have been a handful of times that the AI was going down the wrong path.
That's where experience is important!
Astra just chatted with a live technician via a website chat interface to resolve a website issue it identified. It was blunt and harsh and straight to the point, but effective! Very impressive.
@MbarkCherguia Spaceship! Common at traveling fair's
Based on the classic Rotor Rides, I rode one of the last remaining Rotor Rides last year at Canobie Lake Park, called the Turkish Twist.
Our lives are deeply connected to computers.
Current Real-world Applications that are going to impact the average Joe...
- 3D printing custom parts from a photo, to fix things around the house, or decorations.
- AI replaces the YouTube how-to tutorials. Talking you through what your working on step by step for the exact thing you are working on.
- filling out forms for you. AI filled out the form for my LLC, I just pressed the button at the end to pay.
- Fixing your computer for you. I had a printer that refused to print when I asked it to. AI fixed it for me all on its own.
- AI tracks my health for me, my steps, my heart rate, I even gave it my medical records, and it tells me how to be healthier customized to me personally.
Explaining AI to regular people just doesn't work. They just don't get it. People tell me they use AI all the time to help them write an email... And I try to explain, that its so much more than that. I say it can do stuff now like really well..

I estimate AI makes me roughly 100 times more productive, but that is my personal estimate, not a benchmark. I used to write code line by line. Now I manage the entire project scope across several projects at the same time. My view is that AI lets me work at the project level.
AI is a productivity enhancer, not a replacement for thinking. It is good at turning a project brief into a checklist. It is bad at knowing whether assumptions are true, so I check notes and make the final call. My view is that AI should speed up work while I protect judgment.
GitHub calls this Upcoming deprecation of selected GitHub Copilot models. The change affects AI-assisted Copilot on October 2, 2026. A low-risk flow may need a quick check, but I would test an agent flow and review user code. Retest the real task, not just the prompt.
@nateberkopec It's true that coding is essentially dead.
However building software is more alive than ever, and I think many coders will embrace the change. Software developers love building stuff, and with AI we can build 100X faster. Most of us will are excited for this change!
